I've got a No.1 Mk.III SMLE and a Finnish M39 that can go head to head on most days depending on the loads. Just for fun...

Rifle.jpg Here's the SMLE. It's stamped 1918 and had a lot of love in it's day. Still a darn good shooter.

Target.jpg And here is a target...

The group in the green circle at the deer's head was done with handloads, off of a good sandbag rest at two hundred yards.

I was aiming for the heart/lung area.

I've got several rifles I've shot in vintage military rifle matches, but the only one that's been able to win first place is a 1929 Mosin Nagant. Your milage may vary, but my vote is for the Mosin Nagant!

Swiss K31
Swedish Mauser M96

Both of those consistently are the winners in the local long range milsurp/irons classes. Never Mosins, not even the Finns and rarely the Enfields. I have all of these rifles in my collection and I would vote K31 or M96 out of mine.
