"I disagree ....

No holes in those flashes... but, they're round ... like a silver dollor.

Been there, done that!" .....CasualShooter

I've always thought the Mateba looked pretty "intimidating"

If you will notice, in the above photo and cartoon posted by, clubsoda22,
the arms are pointed toward but NOT directly at the viewer.

The former is effective and gets the point across; but, the latter (pointing directly at the viewer) has generally been considered illmannered and Taboo for a number of reasons; however, I noticed that several who have posted on this thread may not be aware of this. :uhoh:

I take back what I said about the .500 smith. I just shot a 500 A square from an Encore. Scared me, well, you know.

As was mentioned over in the Non-Firearms Forum, the one sound worse than a shotgun being pumped would be a chainsaw starting up :D They'd know you were both armed and crazy!

Whatever one is pointed in your face at the time.:D

Probably one of those old 12 gauge Howdah tiger hunting pistols.

Concur fully with - - -

- - Many of the above. But, really - - -

Think in terms of a full length Broomhandle Mauser C96 being pointed at you by someone with the steely-eyed gaze of, say, Jack Elam.

Any of the others would scare me, but that would be SHEER TERROR!

:D

Johnny

Most intimidating? A S&W scandium 340 loaded with .357mag. If the BG can handle that gun, he could surely beat me to a pulp without it.

The 'eyes' have it!!

It is the look in the eyes, guys! Steely determination, uncaring, psychotic, cold, malicious, deadly!
Any of the above, you are in deep caca.
The size of the of the impliment is not as important as the Willingness to use it to take human life!
I can say that my LW Officer's model, blued with an aftermarket Kings stainless bushing probably looks quite nasty from the wrong end....but they are only gonna see it in the last seconds of their existence. It will never be shown to intimidate. Drawn with the loud command to 'drop your weapon NOW'.....then their weapon hits the ground or the holder does with two large holes in his sternum, two larger ones out his back.
The street ain't Hollyweird!!
I will say, in my experience...the street people I deal with daily seem to have a healthy respect for the term .45 auto.....
Another vote for IDIOT's that point guns at people as a 'joke'

Ever stared down the tube of a 66m/m Light Antitank Weapon? Ohhhhh, not a pleasant sight, from either end!!

For sheer visual effect, leaving out any "extra" things like psycho guy holding the gun. My vote goes to an antique known as the Trantor .577 revolver. Ross Siefried(sp?) wrote an article for Gun & Ammo several years back showing the huge business end of the gun. Wow! Bowen made a custom .577 on a Redhawk frame at one time, but it had to be registered as a DD, because it used cartridges larger than .50 caliber. Either one would be impressive.

This is why i HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE it when police detectives where shoulder holsters. I was sitting down in a chair, he had his jacket off and was facing away from me, about a foot away, standing up talking to someone. I was looking right down the barrel of his Beretta 92 looking at the light glint off the gold dot in the chamder. I just had to tap him on the shoulder....
