My gun store helped prevent a murder

Follow up the call to the wife and offer to sell her a "Lady Smith", if someone needs one, she does.

Good call Correia. The FBMG minions were on the ball that night and you no doubt saved the life of an innocent person. Considering the way this man acted in your store, it is no surprise that his wife is now his EX-wife.

It just goes to show that an intelligent judgement call can do more to stop a criminal than a piece of paper could ever do.

Should have asked him if it was alright if you sold a gun to his wife before selling one to him, just to see his reaction.

Way to go. Glad he's behind bars.

Nice job.
And wow- Halo 3 on legendary. You are hardcore. I had a hard time beating the first mission with 3 other firends, on 4 player co-op.
I trust you have already beaten it, on an easier setting.

Well done. As someone else said, it's time to sell MRS. Norman a handgun. And teach her how to use it.

Good job! Great insight on your part listening and analyzing what he was saying to figure out what he was intending to do.

Sadly, there are those out there who will feel his 2A rights were violated.

You did the right thing and I doubt there will any big press on this (although there should be) as it's not the light they want to shine on gun dealers.

Good for you.

Maybe if the Brady Bunch hears about this they'll stop ranting about how gun dealers are bad and contribute to crime. But I doubt it.

Correia:

Is there a waiting period in your state? If not, I wonder...what if your "radar" hadn't picked up on this guy?

Do you endorse a waiting period on handgun purchases?

even if there was a waiting period on handguns, he could have just bought a shotgun and been just as effective at what he planned to do. the difference, is that the human element, correia, did what the technological element, the background check, couldnt do. and with no reason other than basic human decency.

He would have beaten her to death and the cops would have found her body later. Remember, the cops only stopped the beating before he killed her because they were tipped off.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Heck no!

And you're right, it is Milton, not Norman. For some reason I had Norman as the name of the weird dude on Office Space in my head.

Supernaut, FBMG just gives you those feelings because every time you come in here you go home with another gun... :p

GOOD STOP!

--in the right place at the right moment. . . .

I suppose I'm too old. To me, HALO means High Altitude/Low Opening --and I was NEVER brave enough to do such.

I do believe that the young folks DO NOT KNOW who has gone before. . . . :scrutiny:

Negative! I've got an old HALO helmet in our trophy case. Most of the guys that work at FBMG are former or current military. The other two guys that were with me that night were 19th SFG (PvtPyle) and 82nd Airborne (retired). I've got nothing but respect for people crazy enough to jump out of airplanes. :)

As for Halo the video game on Legendary, I'm not particularly good, I'm just stubborn. :p

Looks like I managed to find THAT button. . . .

I'm just sad to watch how an obscure acronym with such deep, special meaning is co-opted to market, well, a reality-evading game. It appears to be popular, judging from the recent wave of advertising.

Such is life. . . .

what do you think she did to make him that mad? broke the yolk on his eggs and burned his toast?

This summer one of my friends was in a local gun store asking a guy about a side by side coach gun for Cowboy action. When he left some hobo asked him for money and he said no, so the hobo pulled a pistol on him. About 10 seconds later out comes the clerk with the same shotgun my friend was looking at. Needless to say, the clerk managed to convince the hobo that he should wait until the cops came. The worst part of the story, my friend forgot to tell me about it until two weeks ago.

Good call. Unfortunately not all whack-jobs will be that obvious. Luckily he was acting pyscho when filling out the paperwork.

Nice job!
