Here's something for you guys : Name some modern hammer fired semi-auto pistols in .45ACP . Only the affordable and reliable ones. Affordable means less than $600 and reliable as a Glock 17. I am looking for a reliable hammer fired pistol in .45ACP . I have a reliable 1911 and a Ruger P90 but just looking for a different one , but I will keep these two. The $600 puts the Sg P220 out since most people price them like they are made of pure gold.

They are out of stock now but palmetto was selling them for $449.97.

Edit: I checked the usual places and it looks like no one has the base model in stock, all I see in stock anywhere are the tactical ones that for whatever reason cost 3 times as much.

A cheap Sig 220 is the out of production Browning BDA. It was an early Sig 220 with heel mag release imported by Browning back in the day.

Not to be confused with the other Browning BDA which was a 380 and made by Beretta. A clone of one of the double stack Cheetah pistols.

Man, the last few .45 BDAs I saw at the gunshow were considered "collectors items" and priced accordingly. It kinda makes sense since the .380 BDAs seem to command a premium over the basically identical Berretta 84s.

I've seen exactly one used standard 220 that sold for more than 750. Some idiot bought it. In the last 10 years they have been closer 500. Kings had 227 in stock for 650 until about two days ago.

I still have that 220 btw

Ruger p-97. And Tanfoglio are two more i actually like.

Third Gen Smith, and 227 are two I don't. Some do

Colt double eagle is one no one liked. Lol

You have steak taste on a a hamburger budget.

If there is a downside to Glock's, it's that people get the idea that's what handguns cost. Unfortunately, anything made with a metal frame will cost more (unless made in a third world country), and most .45 Auto's will also cost more than their 9mm counterparts.

Forgot about the Witness .45! Very heavy, but reliable and accurate.

Hah. You can get the HK' s down at 500-600 used if your getting a real good price. Round count may be high though. I would buy a used one that looked clean for that money in a heartbeat though, with no concern of it not working/being worn out.

You are probably right. The last one I saw was in 2009 in Ashland, KY being bought by someone for $450. The last 380 I saw was about the same timeframe and went for similar money.
