Need a throw away working folder

if it were me I would buy a higher quality knife and not throw it out. I am not saying spend a fortune on it but the problem with cheaper knives is the locks can fail easy due to cheaper materials. If it were something I were using everyday and I wanted to make sure it performed I would spend more and just touch that edge up once a day at night after work.

Something by Benchmade , Kershaw or Spyderco will fit the bill.

Will you be working with gloves on ?
if you need something bigger to hold with a gloved hand :

Thanks to all for all the replies, but as I said I ordered several Boker Magnum series folders. They are very good knives for the price. Very solid lock up, no rusting problems, and to be honest I haven't even busted one up to the point of tossing it yet. I've had to sharpen it a bunch, but it should last me until the end of the summer when I go back to framing houses.

Again, I would like to highly reccomend the Boker Magnum series to anyone in need of a cheap knife. They more or less offer Buck quality at 1/2 the price.

For cheap (but sturdy) throw aways, I'd check ebay. I bought a new lot of 50 assorted folders for $60 shipped a few months back and there were several lots like it. Some of the blades were frost, but I'm sure you can find an assortment that doesnt have frost in it! I only had one knife break on me (a screw came loose and fell out), otherwise they stayed pretty sharp and held up well in a two week throw away scenario (I used them for opening and cutting boxes - alot had claw point blades which were perfect for what I needed). You may check it out as it was $1.20ea and about 40 of the 50 were 3.5"+. Hope this tip helps! They were flea market quality but did the job well for me. They are what they are so please make your own decision for your application, but the price is right for needing disposables!

Here are some links (not what I bought but an idea of what you can get):

I'd suggest a Spyderco also. I carry a serrated Endura. I consider it disposeable. I use it for jobs that no knife should have to endure, after a couple sharpenings or whenever I've chipped enough teeth, I toss it into a tool box or drawer somewhere and get another. They're cheap, very durable, and once you've worn and used it for a while, I doubt you'll want to use another brand.
