Sweet deal,I bet they will sell nice. Also nice they're offering them with a wood panel grip.

If they're willing to thin out the cylinder walls for 7 shot and also make a.44 special. Maybe a 5 shot 41 mag version could happen. That would be amazing .

I'd want a .41 mag gp to, the gun is obviously able to handle it but what I'm really hoping is if ruger will partner with an ammo firm and make the gp in 41 caliber but also introduce a commercial .41 special ammo

Well it's about time! Now I've got to put the 2.5 inch on my list. I like the way the grip is shaped on it.

I too predict that it will be a good seller... I've always admired GP 100's and if I didn't already own a 4" adjustable sighted seven shot S&W 686 I'd be taking a long hard look at those. But for now it would be too much duplication with what I already have and like.

I'm not seeing it on their website and I did not get an email about it. Where did you see this info?

It took Ruger long enough to make a 7-shot GP100. Smith & Wesson released the 686+ in 1996.

I just checked the GP100 product page. It shows 7-shot models with 2.5", 4.2", and 6" barrels in stainless steel.

P.S. Ruger also released new 8-shot .357 Redhawks with 4.2" and 5.5" barrels.

I did find them... Interesting... I also noticed the variety of 8 shot Redhawks. They also released a couple of LCRx variations earlier this week. That last quite an impressive list of new models.

everytime i see something like this i get tempted but it's just one additional chamber to clean. now if don't have a gp 100 yet I'd probably get one.

Now that's looking at the bright side. Even if I hadn't just bought a 6-shot GP100 three weeks ago I would find it hard to contest the logic.

If the gun is stout enough for cylinders that can accommodate 7 rounds, then they need to add a lighter gun that is optimal at 6 rounds, just like the Smith K versus L in .357 Magnum but without the K's caveats.

Right now, the only way I would buy one is if the Factory offered it in a Match Champion configuration. I have a 6-shot Match Champion already. A stock 7-shot production GP100 would be a step backwards for me.

I've got a long barrel .357, but something inside me says I need a 7 shot snubnose blaster. Rugers are heavy guns, might as well stuff as many rounds in the tank as possible;)

I wonder if 2.5" with 7 rounds wouldn't be very top heavy in an OWB holster. Some barrel length serves to prevent tipping. I am wearing a 3" GP in 41 Special and think that is as far as I want to go in weight, bulk, and snubbed barrel length. I also am not a fan of abbreviated ejectors.
