Oh, what the heck.

Some people use "and" when they should be using "an." Then there are those who type like they talk. For instance, "I would of done it this way." Using the word "of" instead of the proper "have" because that is the way the word sounds when not pronounced correctly.

Enough from me. Time to go to the range.

Yeah, the spelling and grammar nazis....

get to be a bit much. It has been over 40 years since I took an English or spelling class. If I get my point across, I did what I intended to do. I admit there are a few posters here that are lacking in grammar/spelling, but when I see it I just smile as I remember my 8th and 9th grade english teacher, yeah, had the same guy two years in a row, pounding me for getting it wrong in class. I sure remembered it though.......Now, if the PC nazis would just go away.........chris3

One thing that I suddenly noticed people start using about a yeah ago is the word "which" in place of the word "and". It really bugs me.

Joe smokes in the house, which I don't like him smoking.

AUUUURGHH!

There are two different ways to get your point across:

Joe smokes in the house, which I don't like.
Joe smokes in the house, and I don't like him smoking.

Take your pick!

OT: Anyone noticed that gun manufacturers are now selling "Magazine clips" (as labeled on the package)?

punctuation or capitalization. it makes a differance

Today i had to help my uncle Jack off a horse

im sure you can figure out where im going with this.

I'm not too worried about speling:scrutiny: (unless it is truely horrible).

What gets me are the mistruths that just won't die.

ie....California is has made all "assault weapons" illegal. So no one can have anything more evil than a 10/22. (did I mention I hate people who profess to know CA laws, yet have never even stepped into CA....major pet peeve).

Some of us know better but my typing doesn't obey my thought process?

Also, why does the whole clip vs. magazine thing get people so worked up?

When I was a kid we called em clips...so what? Is this a firearms forum or the English Teachers Society Forum? As a matter of fact, I'm going to make it a point to call them clips until they change the definition in the dictionary!

Damn, if I wanted picky I'd still be married to my first wife.

I'm going to keep being wrong and appearing ignorant because I don't like it when people complain about error and ignorance!:scrutiny:

Edited for more overt sarcasm.

magazine has a spring that pushes the next round into the chamber, a clip doesnt. a clip is just a pieve of metal that holds rounds. a clip hold ammo untill it can be loaded into a magazine ( normaly an internal magazine) haha [/quote]

How about full moon clips?

The one about the horse cracked me up, though...:D

The thing about grammar, punctuation, and spelling is somewhat like picking your nose and scratching your butt in public. While it really doesn't hurt anyone else, it's culturally offensive.

My tax dollars have paid tens of thousands of dollars to public schools. I'd like to see a return on my investment.

Example of the "dumbing down" of society.
It's really been bugging me lately how otherwise decent restaurants are all switching to paper napkins. That really irks me. Seems like if I'm going to sit down at a table, look at a menu, place an order, and let a waitress bring me my food, the least they could do is bring me an honest-to-God cloth napkin with it. Paper napkins should be restricted to fast food joints.
Yeah, until you see some braindead freaking idiot blow their nose into the good cloth napkin. People in our society have pretty much turned into pigs. I do, however, appreciate your grammar and spelling.
