Went to the range with buddy....

His setup...LWM6A2 10" 5.56 w/ KAC NT4 (NEW)
Mine....LWM6A2 16" 5.56 w/ SF 556AR (ANEW +/-600 rounds)

I don't know how in the FREAK SOF operators can operate in the field will all the freakin back pressure blowing right into your (mostly) right eye...our eyes started to water at 10-15 rounds on both rifles....

***??? not to mention we had a few double feeds and my my buddies gun a few times had the round stuck in the chamber and pulling the charging handle all the way to the rear and relasing it, failed several times to catch the rim/ go into battery and allow the rifle to fire....the malfs seemed to happen mostly with PMAGs and once with a lancer (2 of the pmags were bought at the same place, same show) the other two 1 20 and 1 30 were bought from LaRue...the 20 round was fine, the 30 had a hiccup i think....my other pmags (2 30s) have never done me wrong.

SOOOOOOO.....do I need to change ammo? We were using 55 gr. Fiocchi...

Do GASBUSTER charging handles REALLY work (please only answer if you've shot w/ and w/o and can verify)....?

I guess you can't do anything if it comes out of the ejection port. So again, is the gasbuster really necessary, useful, etc.?

The wierd thing is that the 3x magnifier flipped to the side seemed to reduce it a little....I need to try that again.

Lastly, it would figure, that, in DualBerettas world, he goes with a piston only to find later that Noveske made a 'SWITCHBLOCK' that seems to all but eliminate blowback when suppressed, but it appears to be made only for DI guns ... naturally.

So where do I go from here...we've dropped a TON of money (for us anyway) trying to get top notch equipment....but it's hard, difficult, frustrating, and probably a bit unsafe to shoot while your eyes are watering up.

Needless to say I'm very frustrated today. Finally get to go to the range to train and have some fun and it sucked.

Course my bud's brother's galil has zero problems with 30 and 40 round mags,, once again...even a 40 rounder that didn't quite fit right and you could literally JIGGLE, left and right, even fed. My Para .45 was flawless at least.

Thing that sucks, with these damn laws, is that it's next to impossible to try different cans, barrel lengths, calibers, charging handles, homemade mods, firing a 762 can on a 5.56, etc.

After doing some searching, I found that a fair amount of people that only buy one can, but don't like the blowback. Maybe the manufacturers should figure out that problem FIRST instead of thinking up how to dick you with a $900-$1200 can.

I've heard that AAC's SPR is better in the blow back regard, but it can't be by much or even noticeably to the same shooter i would think.

Somebody show me a beacon of hope!

thx,
DB

i feel your pain. my main AR just happens to be pretty tight and i'm left-handed, so i get a TON of gas shooting suppressed, and can't use the gas buster

i've got a noveske 10.5" with switchblock on order. i'm hoping it's an improvement, but i'm not ... well, actually, i have been holding my breath.

let us know if you find a solution

All cans are going to create backpressure, even in piston rifles. A Gasbuster (i have one with an Ops Inc. 16th Model) will mitigate the backpressure; but it will not eliminate it.

You can try some sealant around the charging handle as well; but since most of the backpressure is coming out of the ejection port, you probably won't see a dramatic difference with that either.

Were you shooting outdoors or indoors?

Also, what buffer are you running? You may need to go to a heavier buffer with a suppressor.
