Yeah, the Cz 75 is one heavy pistol for sure. loaded to capacity with sp01 mags or mecgar +2 mags it could be used as a barbell as well as firearm

browning hi-power has ruled the roost for eighty years. some are equal, none better.

No opinion, and quite frankly, I don't have the background. But some triggers and reports on engineering/workmanship impressed me.

A growing number of handgun people prefer the CZ-75, or Compact.
As even Russia bought this modern Czech gun for some its personnel, that also seems to indicate some excellent features.

Both the 75 PCR, and P-01 are compact, lightweight alloy framed versions of the CZ-7t that are easy to carry. I carry a PCR daily, and forget I have it on.

NO BEST 9mm

GEORGE BURNS,

There is NO BEST 9mm because there are so many really good choices, it really comes down to what fits the shooter the best.

I have carried BERETTA'S, GLOCK'S, H&K'S and SIG'S as duty guns and all had different appeals. Since I stand 5'8", I have found that the smaller grip guns like the BERETTA 92M with a single stack magazine and SIG 225 fit me really well.
But I also like the GLOCK, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY XD and WALTHER P99, which fit my hand well, despite the double stack magazines. Least well is the GLOCK, best is the WALTHER.
All are good enough that I would bet my life on them and since some were private purchase guns that I carried on duty, I guess I did.

With so many choices, I say go to a range and rent as many as you can. Among those above, there are NO BAD CHOICES!

Jim

Best gun for the money:
Smith and Wesson SD9VE (16+1)

Best all around gun:
Glock 19 (15+1)

Best high capacity handgun:
Springfield Armory XDM 9mm (19+1)

Glock 17, hands down. Followed closely by Glock 19 and 26.

17 can go 1000 rounds without cleaning (as it has many times in the Glock .vs. 1911 matches.)

Reliable to a fault. Accurate to.

I don't have enough experience with 9mm semi-auto's to say which one is "best." I've owned Hi-Powers, and own a Glock 17 now, and they are both great, but my favorite 9mm right now is a Ruger P95DC. It's only got ten round magazines, but larger capacity ones are available if you want them. I'm happy with the ten rounders for a range toy.

The big ugly thing just chugs along at the range. It has never missed a beat, and for some reason I shoot it better than most any other gun I've ever owned. My wife loves it too.

I vote Glock, either 17 or 19. They're uber reliable, very easy to clean, takes 2 min to completely tear apart and replace something if you have to, huge aftermarket, etc.

Personally, I like the Glock 19, as a "best jack of all trades" gun. There are others that may fill certain roles better than the G19 (target gun, for example), but it's one of the ones that fills many different roles well. There are LOTS of good choices with which it competes, though. M&P, XD series, CZs, Ruger SR9 & its variants, etc.

Choose the one that: (a) fits your hand; and (b) you shoot best.

S&W second- and third-gen autos. I love my 659/5906. And I'd recommend the Glocks and other plastic pistols if they had decent cock and lock safeties. The demented Left wants to ban all hi-cap guns and magazines, saying just last week that they believe Americans are so sick of gun violence that they would “give them up" if asked.

So let me see by way of raised hands how many would gladly give up (no compensation, no grandfathering) their automatic, machine pistols to get us out of the mess these people have created for us!

The S&W 645 (top) and 659. Two great pistols.

Fortunately, there are so many fine examples to choose from. My favorites are the CZ 75, the Beretta 92, the SIG 226 and the Smith&Wesson Model 5906.

Uh oh ... One poster already used the "hands-down" proclamation so I guess that's that ... Seriously though, as some have already noted, there's no best, only favorites.

Last poster, SwampWolf, exactly nailed my own personal four favorites (must be a canine thing).

That should end the debate right there.

Fanboys will be Fanboys... I wouldn't even rate em in the top 10 and own one.

My hk p2000 has a great trigger. Silky short pull and crisp break. IMHO

I went wit mr Smith, I picked up a gen 44, 19 today to go with my 26. gen 3, have really tried to get away from glock, went to PPQ, VP9, and a few more, keep going back to the Glock. I give up

What made you dump the ppq and vp9 in favor of going back glock?

And add a 33-round magazine, if hi-cap is your thing....

Any of the modern mid-size polymer guns will do. A Glock 19 or something similar (I have a soft spot for the Walther P99). They will do everything well and are the best all around guns.

For me it´s the Sig Sauer 5-five super match. The best 9mm i got, easy to shoot and very accurate.
