I like the stock style and adaptability of the Ruger carbine. I would be one happy man if they released one in .45 Super. Loaded with the right powder, .45 Super could really haul some behind out of a rifle-length barrel!

The next gun I plan to purchase is a Vector CRB in 10mm. I was planning to get a Scorpion in 9mm, but I am really enthralled with 10mm at the moment. Given that you can vary the weight so much, and I can load my own desired charge, I see lots of potential.

If you think PCC's are ridiculous, go shoot your .223 in the hallway and get back to us.

Where did I say I thought they were ridiculous?

I usually shoot my .223 at the range. You can shoot yours in your hallway if you want, I'll pass.

A 9mm carbine is barely louder than a .22Mag rifle.

And about the same as a 9mm pistol.

This thread is not asking about the viability of PCC's.

Then why are you trying to make them viable?

.

This rhetoric is going to derail the thread and get it closed.

My life is getting increasingly busy with work and family and I am finding it really hard in the last few month to find time to reload, especially rifle ammo. I bought my hi point just to have a fun centerfire plinker that I could just go buy a $10 box of ammo for and shoot from time to time. One of the unexpected joys I have found of shooting the hi point is subsonic ammo. I have a powderpuff load worked up with 700x and 124 gr bullets for my LC9s that give around 800 fps from the short 3" barrel. Surprisingly when shot in the 16" high point they are still subsonic and produce almost no muzzle blast and no sonic crack. Ear protection is optional as its quieter than a 22 rifle with high velocity ammo. Much much much quieter than any pistol. I am planning on getting some 147's to try in it. Its also much much quieter than my unsuppressed 300 blk with subsonics. Its decently accurate with the factory peep sights. About 3" at 50 yards. A 10" plate is easy peasy offhand at 75 yards. My eyes can barely see it at 100 but when I can make it out I can hit it. Its fun waiting for the bullet to hit at 100+ yards subsonic. Mine is the original hi point with the old style stock. The stock used to beat up my cheek a bit under recoil but since I put it in an ATI stock I don't have that problem anymore.

Which currently made semi-auto pistol caliber carbine would you want if you were in the market for one?

Chambered for any auto-loading centerfire pistol cartridge, but many in the poll are 9mm only. What I've listed are 16"+ barreled versions. Please add comments about SBR versions if that is something you would actually purchase or convert.

Up to 2 poll choices available so you can pick your first choice and a runner up.

Thanks in advance for your participation. :)
Good question, made me think. Am I paying for it, or is it free? That makes a difference. I already have a Sub2000, so I'd probably add the Ruger to have a more traditional rifle design. Probably not an AR style, I don't see the point. Thompsons are kind of finicky.

^ so does the Steyr AUG, and I think its service life is a pretty good testament to the durability of plastics.

Of course if its not your thing, its not your thing, just sayin.
Wow, just looked this up. Apparently the AUG hammer is pretty durable unless you dry fire it a lot. There are aftermarket steel retrofit kits out there for both the CX and the AUG, however.
Its madness, I say! Madness!
Lol.:eek::D

The Cx4 trigger never bothered me. Maybe I had a good one. The gun is fully ambidextrous though which was and continues to be seriously appealing to a lefty like myself. It's very compact, handy and accurate. The only serious flaw with it IMO is price.

A new CX4 with two 15 round magazines is currently as low as $635.00 in my area. I don't know what it sold for a few years ago, but the current price isn't too bad considering the price of all the others.

It does look Beretta funky. My Neos Carbine Kit sure looked Beretta funky when I had it.

I like most things about the Beretta on paper. It's short due to the magazine in the grip, lightweight for a blowback, easy to field strip, has fold down sights, and a little slide out rail in the forearm for a light.

I have to wonder, will I like the looks of one years from now? I wouldn't want to have nightmares like the 9000S pistol can give. :D

I voted AR Type. I have a 9mm CMMG AR Colt pattern carbine, and a 9mm CMMG AR Pistol. They are 100%reliable, and operate exactly like a higher power AR. The best thing is they are a snap to clean. Blowback pistol caliber carbines run dirty. I also have a Just Right Carbine in 9mm. Great gun, runs perfectly but is a pain to tear down and clean. I bought it first, but dont shoot it much anymore because the ARs are much easier to clean

Either they came down or I'm misremembering then.

That's exactly why I swapped my JRC for a PSA AR9.

I think the price of the CX4 was pretty high years ago, relative to the value of a dollar. But, I can't remember either.

Edit: I just looked in an old 2007 Gun Annual that showed a MSRP of $850.00 back then. The current MSRP on Beretta's website is $699.00.

I would take the CX4 or Ruger PC Carbine. But every rifle I have has a purpose. And that purpose is harvesting game. I really want a semi-auto carbine made in 10mm. I just can’t bring myself to buy the HiPoint. And I’m not dropping $2k for a carbine. It just ain’t happening.
