Would you buy a conventional 9mm carbine?

If I am going to shoot a pistol cartridge, I'll shoot it out of a gun I can carry in a holster.

If I need more than a pistol can give me, I'll not limit myself to a gun that's heavier, longer, more cumbersome than a pistol -- but still shoots pistol ammo.

I always wanted a Ruger PC 9 to go with the Ruger P series pistols. I thought that was a great idea, and I think Ruger hoped that some law enforcement agencies would buy the combination. The rifles were a bit heavy, and I think they were a bit pricey. I think that a lot of folks would prefer a higher powered cartridge in a carbine sized rifle.

I think Ruger quit making the PC series carbines a few years ago. They didn't sell well, and they still seem expensive when I see one for sale.

I still like the idea, and I am keeping on the lookout for a reasonably priced Ruger PC 9.

Posts here indicate that a lot of people like the idea, but Marlin and Ruger found that they never actually bought the guns...

The only 9mm. carbine I ever had was a Sterling MK.6, only because I would never be able to get the L2A3 version of it. It was a great plinker, even with Sten mags (helped to have an original Austen mag loader), and always left me with a big smile on my face after running several mags through it at the range. But other than this one specific gun, I doubt I would be very interested in any other 9mm. carbine, though you did pique my interest with your reconfiguration of the MAB 38/49 Modello 5.

nowadays the cost difference between 9mm and something like an AK is not great. As a matter of fact, if you can score a 5.45x39 AK, you can shoot much cheaper than you can with 9mm. 7.62x39 is close to the same price.

Thats very true. right now, it's only costing me .05 cents more per shot for my x39 AK than my 9mm Sub2k.

I wouldn't buy any more 9mm carbine. I like mine enough, but no more of those for me. I'm on to different delights now.
