I have some questions about selling a gun on line. If I posted a message about selling my S& W 9ve, I bought it when it is new in 11/2005 and I paid $319 including tax .If someone is willing to buy my gun at $260 that I asked and already sent to me his FLL dealer’s information’s copy.
My question is :
1) When I send this gun to his FLL dealer, who is going to pay shipping fee and insurance fee? I think it should be buyer not me. The fee will be around $20-25 if I use FDX, correct?.
2) When the gun arrives his FLL dealer’s location , the buyer should pay about $ 25.00 or more to get this gun. So his total cost for buying this gun will be $260 +$25+$25= $310. This is the money he can buy a new one from S&W. So I have to decrease the price that I asked at beginning because nobody will accept this price, correct?
3) If finally the buyer accepted this gun for a price and received it. He finds some problems in it and is going to return it to me , should I give him full refund including first time shipping fee $25+ FLL fee $25.00 and the shipping fee he send back to me $25.00=$75.00 ?
(Besides, he will send this gun to my FLL dealer’s location not directly to me, so I have to Pay $25.00 to get my gun back) .
Thank you very much!

1) The price you quote should include the shipping terms (i.e., "$260 shipped" or $260 plus shipping").

2) Yes, but some buyers don't think about that. If your price is too high (when shipping and FFL fee are considered), no one will bid or make you an asking price offer. If they offer less, it is up to you.

3) Set the terms in advance. If you accurately represent its condition, then no return unless you agree to do so. If you do accept the return, you will have to negotiate the shipping fees. If it is not as represented, seller should make good. If it is, but the buyer backs out, then the buyer should pay.

All of the above can be avoided (in most states) by selling face-to-face (FTF) in the same state. Your milage may vary (YMMV). :)
