I would like to thank everyone who participated and Nem who cheered from the sidelines.
It was fun to mix in some Winchesters and a Henry (Quoheleth. KSYodeldog & SP) Though handicapped
with inferior equipment you guys represented well. I hope you will continue to join us in our future matches.
Special recognition to Angus for braving the deep snow and finishing top three in everything, including two top spots, both Magnified and Non!
Mal upgraded a target that gave away the top spot for the center group and replaced it with another that won him the best average and best group for either class.
Fast Frank documented his challenges in this thread and still managed to post a top three target.
Shaky Jake sent in five excellent groups from .435" to .656" and was the only one to stay under 3/4" with every group.
Shootr sent in another very consistent target with four of the five ranging from .554-.687" and if it wasn't for two or three fliers he'd have nabbed more top spots. He had several enlarged hole groups with a "beauty mark" that expanded the group.
Yet another consistent performance was KSYodeldog's 39 entry. No bad bulls, all impressively clustered and centered on the bullseyes despite a right to left crosswind.
DJR is another one that dealt with time, weather and ammo issues. Based on his previous performances I'm sure we all got a little lucky he didn't get it all together at the same time. Even so he still managed the second smallest group in the Magnified class.
Applause and thank you to John for picking an excellent target and outlining the match. GREAT fun, excellent challenge and one I'd like to repeat in the future.
SP's Henry proved to be a very good shooter. They seem like a heck of a value and the Octagon barrel is VERY attractive. Had he not had an errant shot on his lower right target he would have grabbed another two podium spots...
One thing played out as expected was ammo that cost twice or more of bulk ammo took the top spots the average group size category. In my experience inexpensive ammo produces more fliers. This match reinforced my belief that paying more gets you more consistency
