Lever Action Postal Match for Centerfires

Sorry everyone. I did not get mine mailed. I had two to send, but things got crazy around here, and it slipped by.

I can't wait until the next one comes along. Good luck to everyone!

P.S.

Your luck I did not get mine in!!!

Eb1, bummer.

On the eve of the match finish there are only four shooters... I was the only one to post entries for two rifles, 336 in 30-30 and an 1895 in 45-70. Fast was the only to enter the Scoped class though I doubt it would have mattered because his targets are amazing! Factory ammo too.

Spinner posted two targets from field positions including the 50 yard freestyle. His targets are mighty respectable.

Mal got out his 45 Colt Winny and punched some big holes in the center of the target. No duct tape evident...

Thanks, Mo.

I feel that I should have been more diligent. I will send them in anyway. Despite the last call. I wanna support the shoot.

Eb1, measure your groups and post here or PM them to me. Or even better, Post a picture or two if you're able.

Mo,

I have attached the files with measurements and distance.

The photo __IMR4895-31.7gr.jpg was with 170 grain Hornady FN
The photo __VV_N120-24.5gr.jpg was with 125 grain Sierra HP FN

EDIT: These were Marlin 336W 30-30 w/20" barrel, scoped 4x32, benched, @ 100 yards

I hope these come out well. The VV pic was scanned a little crooked, but I got a good reference on the application to adjust the width of the square to be 1".

These are the correct measurements, and they are what I get when I use my calipers and calculator.

Thanks.

Thanks, everyone.

I did not get mine mailed, but it did give me an excuse to get out and shoot. I hope there will be another.

Well, how about that? I didn't measure those groups. I just eyeballed them and decided they would be just over MOA.

Guess I over estimated them a little.

Here's the groups.

50 Yards:

100 Yards:

The rifle:

LEVERACTIONCONTEST.jpg

It's a 1963 Marlin 336RC, fairly battered but fully functional.

The scope is a 3.5-10 X 40 Bushnell Sportview, and the ammo was Winchester 150 grain "Power Point" in the silver box. (Current stuff from Walmart)

The weather was clear, but there was a gusting wind at maybe 10 MPH. I tried to shoot between gusts.

All shots fired from sandbags, on the bench.

Thanks for putting this match on, MO.

I hadn't fired that rifle in quite some time, and enjoyed it quite a bit.
