Just bought a as new can be 3913TSW without the rail (hate them things) came with 2 mags, factory case for $600. Owner said it's from 93.
Always wanted one, held a couple and they just felt good. Everything I've read about the 3rd gen S&W has been positive. Have not heard or read a negative about the 3913.
Going to use as my carry piece.
Anyone own one?

I had a 3913, got offered stupid money for it, so I let it go. I need to stop doing that, I regret it much of the time, but it's hard to turn down a $150+ profit on a $375 gun.
I still have my 6906 ex-PD gun. It's a very nice shooter, and in nearly new condition.

LOL, I was in that position once too. Bought a mint Beretta Cheetah Model 86 (with the tip up barrel) for $1K. Less than a year later, someone offered me $1,400. I took it. I miss that little pistol but couldn't turn down the deal.

Back on topic...I owned a 3914 (same as the 3913, but black in color), and it was a great shooter. I really should have kept it. I have also fired a 3913 and a 908 and those seemed to be great as well. The 3rd gen smiths are known to be excellent pistols and are getting rarer (and more expensive) by the day. I think you got a keeper!

My former brother in law had one. I always thought it held in a grip well but never got to shoot it. At the time I was carrying a full size pistol in 40 caliber and thought it was a foolish choice. Now I think I would like to try one. I don’t need another carry 9. Nor would I buy one unless it was the right price. I thought the single stack was too low of capacity and now I carry kahr pistols cause I got tired of lugging that duty weapon around. Que up the circle of life song from lion king.

Mine is the 4013 .40 S&W model.

Trigger is a tad mushy and it can be snappy with full power loads due to the stainless slide and alloy grip frame, but it shoots well and hasn’t ever bobbled.

You will like your 3913, they are great little guns. :)

Stay safe.

Had I bought a 3913,

the likely chance of scratching the light colored metal would have stopped me from using it more than once- would have sold it.

That's what Moly Resin, Cerakote, etc are for!

I have a two tone 5903 in excellent condition, along with the 5906, 3906 and 3904. Not at all shy about using these 3rd gens as intended, despite their increasing values.

Murdered a rabid raccoon with one, on a walk down at camp.
Sold it to a buddy, who still has it. It is a nice, flat design, but I've drifted off DA/SA for anything serious.

This is Part 4 of 4.

I used this after trying to smooth a trigger bar for a better DA pull. No luck with that smoothing. I didn’t use the best (smoothing) technique.

This reassembly wasn't bad at all when following every step, in this sequence. My only previous assembly was a Sig P6 frame (not bad either, with a video).

This is one of the best handgun dis- or reassembly videos I've ever found for any handgun.

Maybe this could help somebody in the "3rd Gen world". Note that this gun is DA/SA.;)
This plus the Sig P6 video were Watched at least Twice in order to (possibly) find the nerve to do a frame disassembly etc.

Keeping a group of parts from a specific area of a gun in about 3 or 4 Different small/large sealed Baggies will help prevent a possible nightmare,

and disassembling anything with a possibly tight or tiny spring might best be done with the frame kept (mostly) inside a large, transparent plastic bag—for That step. Go right ahead, do it your way.....:D A tiny “Tink ! “ or “Spooiiiing!” “Oh—what Was it, and where did it Fly To?”

Carried one - issued - as a Customs Officer in the middle 1990s (I think). Considering I'm not moved much by 9x19mm I thought it was 'suitable' for defense. The double action only trigger made things difficult for any precise shooting, but general use was okay.

What bothered me was not the pistol itself, but the thinking: Customs issued a hideout gun as an open carry, uniform carry gun. Idiots.

I changed out the hammer on my 6906 using those videos as an instructional guide- they are excellent.

My 3913NL was my preferred off duty gun for years. I only traded it off after S&W decided that they would not be offering service for those guns anymore.

I have the 3913tsw and 3953tsw. Both without rail. Very accurate and easy to carry. I like that they use same mags because they’re expensive.
