Collector, "hoarder," and shooting enthusiast
I have a modest collection of rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. I've only ever parted with a few I didn't care for. Mainly I research each before I buy so I know what I'm getting, and I "buy and hold." I don't look at them as an investment, but I do see their value in the long run, more in terms of utility, fun, and teaching skills to friends and family and someday my kids.
I love to shoot and am proficient with all of my weapons and very good with a few. I would say that I don't shoot all of them as much as I'd like due to time, lack of close ranges, and cost of ammo.
I collect also because of, in some ways, the anti-gun movement. Everytime I buy a gun, I feel I am exercising my 2nd Amendment rights and also it gives me glee to buy a gun when I know there are those anti-gunner people that I'm pissing off. I buy guns because, as a free American I feel it is my right AND my duty. I collect guns because someday we might not be able to just walk into a store and plop down some cash or buy one from our neighbor.
Right now guns are relatively inexpensive and easy to get. That may not be the case in the future. My goal is to get one of everything I want. Once I do that I'll get two of everything. And I like buying multiple C&R guns.
That's my .02.
