Smith CSX

Went shooting at local gun store today. When done looked around and saw the CSX. Was able to handle and dry fire it. First impressions were very good. I was able to get a full grip on it with the 12 round magazine and trigger was nice but a little heavy. Review shown above and the trigger went down to 5.5 LBs pull after 500 rounds which for me would be perfect for a carry gun. Could care less about the trigger dingus as it was smooth and could not tell it was there when working the trigger. The safety is in the smaller side but I found it easy and intuitive to deactivate but a little more challenging to activate which to me is not a problem either. It does not feel heavy but the metal frame imparts a solid feel. Hopefully I will get to try one out soon. This looks to be another big seller for Smith and Wesson.

Really starting to like the 1911 style platform... especially like the SAO action for triggers. Haven't seen a GDX yet but looking forward to wrapping my hands around one to see what it's all about.

I wish it was a DA/SA without a trigger dingy, and in .45 or .40. I just have too many 9mm and another 9mm has to really tickle me to buy

Im with you .. problem is a 40 S&W in that size would be quite lively.. .. and in 45 it would be a totally different realm .. I think they could get it to the Shield 45 size ….which would sell like Hotcakes

I also like to carry a extra mag for my incase my mag fails or gun gets clucked up.

Is the texture on the grip panels as rough as the other M&P 2.0 guns?

I got a chance to shoot Smith’s new CSX yesterday and today. And I have to say I am much impressed. I would have preferred a slightly lighter trigger pull and night sights, but could live happily with the gun as it is. Near-perfect carry gun, particularly for those accustomed to 1911 format.

I would have bought one yesterday, but my current carry, a SIG p365 with manual thumb safety, already serves the purpose well.

But maybe if I shot the CSX again tomorrow…

I am hoping to get to hold and fire one at some point.

The Gun of the Month Club is going to cancel your membership for stuff like that.
And you have to get done with the CSX to be ready for a .30 Super.

Me? Now I am TWO generations behind, I depend on single stacks and don't even have a small higher capacity 9mm like P365 or Shield Plus, much less an all new caliber.
Same lol. I’m still running a Shield 1.0 and a 642. One day I’d like a shield plus

While that would be nice I don't think it is possible to have the mechanisms required for reliable/durable DA/SA in that size pistol. Springfiield Armory XDE was an attempt at that and I don't think it was well recieved by shooters in general and has been discontinued. May SA is coming out with a better replacement? Possibly but have not read anything about that yet. While there are a lot of us DA/SA external hammer fired pistol fans , we are dwarfed by the numbers of those buying striker fired pistols, especially for concealed carry.

I like striker for super compact pocket guns like LCP and LC9… but having a hammer is a comfort food for me. But for SA olny, my Colt Defender 45 with extra mag (WC mag) works for my low profile dress shirt carry needs

fyi… to me, dress shirts have more than 1 button and light camo

My impression of the CSX is pretty much the same as yours. Stopped by the LGS and they had one left (I think they said out of an initial shipment of ten). The gun looks smaller than what I thought it might be. Kind of reminded me of a down-sized version of the Beretta Model 84. Felt somewhat the same when I handled it only not quite so wide as the Beretta. Transition of the aluminum frame with the polymer back strap was smooth and seamless. Didn't feel heavy in the hand and overall balance and handling were first rate. Sights came right up on target quick and easy. Trigger was a little heavy but fairly clean. Didn't even notice the trigger safety while dry firing the gun. Manual thumb safety was close by and I was able to put it on/take it off without any extra effort on my part.

If I were in the market for a high-capacity micro 9mm. I would definitely give the CSX serious consideration.
