Terry G,

I did not part with my CZ9s (compact and RAMI); I just added the CSX to the mix.

BOARHUNTER
how big is your current active mix? I’m at 5. I have a few more in the works but don’t have time to test them.

I want to add a G3 something with the factory reddot

I think PSA Dagger offers the optics cut now as well. Crazy how many nice budget guns are out there. I shot one of those Ruger American longslide Comp guns not long ago and really liked it. Lots of Razzle Dazzle for the money built on basically a Milspec strength gun.

haha... I dont know about that. I guess its a good time for budget guns. People can hate manufacturers like Taurus and Sccy all they want but they are helping keep prices down. Dagger is most likely going to bring the prices down on the entire clock clone market. I always try to support the smaller American manufacturers because they help keep the competition from getting to bloated. The big boys are going to play hell keeping up with Taurus G3/4 sales and if PSA ever gets caught up with demand Glock is going to have to cut prices or conceed market share.

I guess its golden age for polymer modern mass production now that most of the surplus imports had dried up. There are some great values out there in Modern classics though. Arex Rex Zero (CZ-99) is a pretty amazing pistol I have seen in the $450 range.

Lots of great deals... hardest thing is deciding on which one to buy.

Automags coming back and parts availability was exciting for me. Python is nice.... then there is that new BRNO 7.5 multi caliber monster.

I like all guns! ever cheap Hi Points

I like all guns! ever cheap Hi Points

Hipoints are great and a lot of fun. People just try comparing them to mainstream guns and they get ridiculed. Hi-point vs Glock..... Hi-point VS Beretta. It really needs to be Hipoint vs Jennings or Lorcin etc. etc.

I can almost guarantee the CSX will be more respected than a Hi-point and I have never even seen a real one. I cn also pretty much guarantee I can easily run loads through a C9 that will blow up a CSX. Hipoint are pretty incredible for those who understand firearms design.... no locking mechanism.... no slide rails.....lowest cost materials.....The guns work and run like sewing machines once you dial them in. There is a reason they have such a following and it isnt just because they are cheap. The basic design has been around forever. Its almost like they took a cheap little raven 25 and put a magnifier on it. I would love an all steel one that ran with mecgars. It would probably outlast the sun.

I have the Shield Plus and my only complaint is with the small manual safety, but I'm getting use to it. The Performance Center Shield Plus has a great trigger, so the only way I'm moving to a single action trigger is if it rivals a top quality 1911 trigger and this isn't that. Maybe the Performance Center will work some magic and then I'll take another look.

I’m going to get a Hi-point in every caliber except 9mm.

I hear you. I have 9"s coming out my...ears. Just bought a Taurus G3 and a S&W SD9VE for absolutely no good reason.

Me too!! Bought a Taurus G3 TORO because it was $299 and optic ready..haha. No optic yet, but it sure shoots well.

This thread is straying from the OT.

I've watched a couple of vids about the CSX and just based on those my main concerns would be the false trigger reset and a fairly small safety on a SAO gun.

Other than that it seems to be a functional and accurate gun.

Nah... gotta get the 9mm. They are not as bad as people make them out to be. Mine dont jam. Buy them used. They are easy to clean up. They all have that signature Hi-point ca-chunk feel when cycling. Most shooters like it because its not snappy. The 45acp highpoint is like a Hubba Bubba Socom Mark 23. They benefit from some simple reworking. Clean the epoxy paint out of the barrel and give it a good crown and you will probably be shocked how accurate they can be. Sometimes you have to set the extractor. Any problems Hipoint will hook you up and the Techs are great and easy to talk too. While not my favorite guns they are probably my favorite US firearms company. Smaller companies are usually great when it comes to customer service. Most that get big just dont care anymore and start automating everything. They have been this way since the very beginning in the 80s/90s. My dealer would sell a Stallard with a case of surplus 9mm ammo really cheap for guys that just wanted to spend a weekend blasting away. I ran a lot of Hirtzenberger +p+ ammo through the 9 before I quite trying to break it and just accepted how tough they were. I was young those days... wouldnt try that stuff now.

S&W has always treated me right though. They will get this CSX ironed out eventually. I could see me getting one over something like a new M&P or Shield and I pretty much like all the S&W. I am not paying that retail price though.... not even close.... thats like 20 used Hi-points! They are very consistent with recalls. Not sure I remember a gun they havent done a recall on....SD9 maybe. They take care of customers though for the most part.

I think they will get the trigger dialed in. Safety probably be a gen 2 thing.....That or a recall. Overall it looks like a winner as far as a new line goes. Biggest turn off for most will probably be the trigger now that everyone will be looking for false resets. Kudos to the reviewers for being honest and not just gushing over it.

I suspect that marketing/accounting specs out their guns and decides where to spend money with a new gun. It seems that the Performance Center tweaks those products to get the most out of what marketing has left them. If there is a better trigger then it will be through the PC, or in version 2.

The “false reset” is not an issue to me. Nor is it likely to be an issue to most other shooters.

The manual safety is easily functional. It works much better in the hand than it appears on paper.

The trigger on mine is a little bit heavier than I would prefer, but the range gun I shot before purchasing had a better, lighter trigger from several days of occasional use by store staff.

So, I am expecting my trigger to improve from use similarly.

I'd rather have just about any of the S&W lineup other than the SD9VE's.
Why? I admit I put an Apex trigger on mine as the original was just too heavy, but even before that the gun shot well and was completely reliable. Now it's a pleasure to shoot and I would not hesitate to carry it and I'm a CZ guy.

I think the price point is attractive, and I might prefer that to many other budget guns for SD.

But, out of S&W guns, which I'm a big fan of, the SDVE series is the only one that felt like junk and not S&W quality. I shot the .40 version. The guy who had it at the range was shooting shotgun like patterns. He let me shoot it for a bit. Then I had him try my Glock 19, and his aim got significantly better right off the bat.

I have several hundred rounds now through the CSX, and I like it a great deal. It now rides on my hip, and my SIG p365 is relegated to pocket carry.

I have yet to determine whether the CSX is as accurate as the 365, but I do know they are close in that regard.

The CSX has been 100% reliable with both range ammo and self-defense ammo.

The little gun shoots like a big gun.

With one qualification, I am completely pleased with the gun. The sights. I am disappointed the gun did not come with night sights similar to the 365. And the gun shoots approximately 6 inches high at 25 yard#….Most won’t shoot a micro compact at 25 yards, but I do regularly, and 6 inches high at that distance is a problem for me. Eventually, night sights will come available. And hopefully I will be able to get a taller front sight.

Bottom line—I really like the gun.

While that would be nice I don't think it is possible to have the mechanisms required for reliable/durable DA/SA in that size pistol. Springfiield Armory XDE was an attempt at that and I don't think it was well recieved by shooters in general and has been discontinued. May SA is coming out with a better replacement? Possibly but have not read anything about that yet. While there are a lot of us DA/SA external hammer fired pistol fans , we are dwarfed by the numbers of those buying striker fired pistols, especially for concealed carry.
My carry gun is an XDE. A slightly smaller version would be appealing.
