So what Is The Gun You Always Come Back To?

1911, though to be fair the CZ75 and SIG P226 are both on the "Next" list. Who knows after that. My series 70 has some serious shortcomings as a Home Defense pistol, (No night sights, no accy rail, hammerbite, 10rnd limit, etc) but a modern 1911 might address those. I will have to own all three pistols to see if familiarity wins out over features. Regardless, the 1911 just always feels right in my hands.

I haven't found the perfect rifle, though my dad's Saiga is always comfy and true, just like my 1911.

(edit) I should add that after 8 years in the Corps, the AR series is real comfy for me. But it remains to be seen if it will be a go to weapon. (First I have to move to a state that will let me have an un-neutered one.)

rifle: Browning semi auto TD grade 1.........just a work of art.
pistol: xd9!!service model, fits me like a glove, point and shoot like its a natural extension of my body.

I keep coming back to the Browning Hi-Power, Ruger Security-Six .357 and S&W Model 36. I bought and sold, bought and sold and finally bought and kept each one.

Pocket carry - alloy jframe in .38 spl.
IWB - 1911
OWB - no real favorite here, but the 3" model 13 I just picked up may change all of that

Rifle- haven't found that sweet spot yet, still looking. The M1/M1A series seems to fit me awful well though. I have owned an AR and a Mini-14 in the past. I actually preferred the Mini although the AR is much more ergonomic. I will likely have another AR in the future, but it will probably never be my preferred rifle.

I used to be a diehard Glock fan, but over the years, my enthusiasm has waned considerably. There are still a few models I am interested in (21 and 20) but my days of believing they were the be-all and end-all of the pistol world have long since passed.

Not that I ever left any of these, but here goes:

Pistol: Glock. What more do you need? Admittedly, the .45 cal 1911 gets honorable mention.

Rifle: AR-15. Having owned many and shot most of what is out there, I still prefer this one.

Shotgun: Mossberg 500/590. Lightweight, inexpensive, and the carrier does not get in the way of me stuffing more shells into the magazine. All those things the 870 is not...:p Yes, I do in fact own an 870 as well.:D
