Got to shoot my Star B today. I used 3 types of 9mm ammo, S&B FMJ, CCI blazer FMJ and Winchester White box FMJ.

I had some magazine problems that I was aware of before shooting so I will not focus on these malfunctions. My mag has a very stong spring and when it is loaded more than 5 rounds, it is try to double feed the rounds. I need a different mag, no big deal.

I shot about 200 rounds total with one FTF jam with the CCI Blazer ammo. If you load only 5 rounds at a time and take away from the mag issue, the gun seems very reliable, if I get a new mag and it works, I think it will be reliable with FMJs.

This gun is in NRA "Good" condition at best so I wasn't expecting much from it. The bbl looked like it had almost no rifling left but it was free from dark patches or pits, bright and almost mirror.

Accuracy varied dramaticaly from ammo to ammo with S&B being by far the most accurate. This was a surprise because I have never had a 9mm that was this picky about ammo. Blazer was the least accurate with groups in the 4' range at 15 yards. Win ammo was a little better but not much. The S&B would do less than 2" easy and it would also feed from a full mag. I thought the S&B was going to be the least reliable because it has the shortest overall length and this gun was originally intended to be a 9mm Largo which is longer. Overall, I would rate the accuracy as sub par but O.K. if you use S&B ammo only. I did shoot my Star Firestar 9mm as a benchmark to test how much was me and how much was the gun and I wasn't shooting very well. Maybe, I can ring out some better groups on another day.

The slide was rather well fitted to the frame with no rattle but some play if you moved it by hand and same with the bbl. The trigger was quite good, lighter than my Firestar or my FM Hi Power with the mag safty removed.

It was easy to fire really fast becase of the low recoil and good grip that the slimer frame provides. It was also somehow more fun to shoot than most guns. I don't know why but it was hard to put it down. I think it would be a blast to have two of these and fire them in eash hand.

I think this would make the perfect car gun with a better mag as long as the reliablity issues were solved by the new mag.

glad to hear it, my local dealer recommended one of these over a Hi-Point 9mm compact for my first pistol. whatever I get, it'll be for plinking ONLY, so reliability isn't absolute important....my life is not on the line.
