Storing gasoline for shtf.

I've done a small test batches, but larger quantities aren't difficult. The trick is not to use too much lye and to be careful when skimming the biodiesel from the glycerine precipitate at the bottom of the container. Glycerine is leftover during the production and you don't want it in your fuel. Now if you're confident enough about the purity of the glycerine you may be able to make soaps out of it, but that's another story.
 
Just wanted to comment:

I bought 5 surplus "swiss" jerry cans from Sportsmansguide, and 4 had perfect inner coatings. The fifth looks like it's flaking off pretty badly inside, so I don't know what I'll use it for, if anything.

Looks like surplus cans are hard to get right now -- most of the other listed suppliers were strike-outs.

Lowe's has 5-gal plastic containers with two handles (one on top and one on the side) for like $6, which might make more sense.
