Stunning numbers

You are dangerously naive if you believe Obama will not eventually get to the gun issue.
You may be right, then again, you may be wrong. We all know Obama's voting records on firearms prior to the SCOTUS decision and how he changed his colors when SCOTUS ruled it is an individual right, seperate from a militia.

I think Obama took a step back and realized his dream of a gun-free America ain't gonna happen. Not only does he not have the support of the Democrat-CONTROLLED-CONGRESS on this issue, he too has seen gun and ammo sales skyrocket beyond belief. People that voted for him went on a buying frenzy like those of us that didn't vote for him. I believe his supporters felt he was the best choice because of the economy, but a lot didn't agree with him on the gun issue.

I bet a lot of the big wigs at the auto companies are looking at those sales numbers and hoping like hell somebody starts a rumor that Obama will back a ban on gas powered cars.

Damn Not havin a job is killing me, heck all I could afford today was 80 rounds of 308 and thats all the 309 I got. lol I'm lacking a bit

Well the increased demand is great for the economy and pro-gun politics, and it leaves the Obama administration looking for more sneaky, indirect routes to ban guns

For consumers like me, it completely sucks because I can't find cases of ammo, or handgun ammo, or even afford to enhance my collection. Oh, and I still hear gun dealers starting rumors every time I go to a store.:barf:

For what it's worth, we have most of the media telling the sheeple who to vote for and it worked. Now we have to vote with our wallets. The message was sent and is still repeating. It rings clear, and at least as clear as any rally I've ever seen or heard of.

That said, I hope at least 1/10 of the people buying all these firearms are also filling out the NRA membership card that was in the box...

Here's a thought: maybe Detroit should start a group called something like Americans for Car Safety that starts by arguing against sports cars. They could list a bunch of scary numbers like how many people die on the nation's highways every month and then say we should ban cars with over x number of HP. We should also ban sports cars and anything that looks like them because they look scary. Maybe if Detroit could make this group look like they're spending enough lobbying Congress to have some clout, they could create a run on cars.

Instead they are buying wholesale into the rhetoric of the dealers who say that Obama is going to take away all your guns.

"Buy now while you still can! The price is only going to go up and up! These are the last ones at this price! Who knows if we'll ever see another Taurus .38 in the shop! I'd sure like to hold it for you, but I have a lot of people coming in looking at these."

Yep. I agree completely. I've seen an awful lot of "Yellow Journalism" on this issue so far. Not only have some of the classic rumors caught new wind (ex: "Primers will be useless after 6 months of storage"), but new and equally foolish rumors have been developed (ex: "Obama is requiring that the manufacturers build fewer guns, so that there will be a shortage. He wrote this secret legislation last month").

I recognize that Obama is not a pro-gun kind of guy, and that our congress isn't looking gun friendly either. I am worried about the possibility of future legislation, but also wish that many of our fellow gun owners could differentiate between fact and fiction!

Just remember Obama's campaign statement "A strong miliary and a strong civilian force". The strong civilian force bill funding was just submitted under the name of a 8 million man volunteer force. This trained civilian force will volunteer at least 10 hours of their time per week at what ever Obama deems necessary. That is going to be the well trained civilian force that will be under the direct control of Obama. Most people in my area believe just might be the ones to come after our weapons.

With the uncertainty in the world today
and the fact that we are at war and most our 'resources' are abroad.
It would be very foolish to attempt to disarm citizens at this time.
(maybe later, but not today)...

Of course our politicians aren't the smartest people in the world.
So who knows what next moronic move they'll 'attempt' to make.

All in all my personal threat level is about defcon 3 right now.
There has been some good news for us gun owners recently.
Check out the legal threads here to see them.

I find taking a couple of new folks shooting is much for effective and satisfying than sitting in my basement looking at 5000 rounds of .223 bought at 50 cents pop mumbling, "Yes, my preshuss, nasty Obamas will never gets you!"

I'm reporting post number 8, because it made me spew soda and laugh out loud in the library. :)

Holy cr@p!! Kentucky is blowing everyone away by a long shot.
They're out-buying Texas almost 2:1.

what the heck is going on in KY? i thought their CC permit allowed for buying guns w/o a NICS check.

In regards to KY and not having to do a NICS check for sales of firearms from FFL dealer to individual, I am not exactly sure in regards to individuals with CCW licenses, though I still assume that a NICS check would still be done. (NICS Checks almost always have to be done)
Regardless of this, I am positive that there are many... many people in KY that are purchasing firearms that do NOT possess a CCW, thereby regardless of the KY law regarding CCW holders, those that do not possess a CCW would still definitely have to go through the NICS check.
Whether or not KY is a 'gun smuggling capitol' or not would have no bearing on the amount of NICS checks either, as gun "smuggling" by it's very nature, doesn't go through the same LEGAL process of an actual LEGAL gun transfer. Put short, there aren't NICS checks on illegally smuggled firearms.

Texas has enough guns for every man woman and child in the continental US for the foreseeable future, already within their borders. They're just doing private-party sales now to spread the wealth around. :)

(Yes, I'm kidding)

I guess NICS stands for:
National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
Is that correct?

If so, why the need for the word 'instant' followed by 'criminal' is beyond me.
Are we now considered 'Instant Criminals'
for going through the Instant Criminal Background Check System?

Seems they are looking for 'instant criminals'.

LMAO :D

Just remember Obama's campaign statement "A strong miliary and a strong civilian force".
He also wanted "A National Police Force", but that has been hushed up. Lets see, what other country insituted National Police along with banning guns?

Obama has already changed the face of this nation forever by putting government controls on all sorts of businesses and putting federal control over states. If that doesn't scare you then you must not be a student of history.
Yep.

Also to be real, a lot of us gunnies bought up some more for the sake of getting it while it was good. I bought two Romanian TTCs through JG(great guns by the way), and bought three Tokarevs privately. Just right before the election and till now I've bought between whole guns and the FFL receivers a total of 5 semi-automatic rifles capable of using magazines holding twenty or more rounds. I got two additional privately, and homebrewed for another three(AK variants). I finally just took the one PPSH43 and did it in Pistol because I wasn't patient enough to do the SBR NFA paperwork, and I'll leave the PPSH41 unfinished and just buy a PPSH41 legal carbine and use the parts as spare parts. I got a S&W 19-4 and S&W 19-5 in private sales. Another few more pistols privately. Had to buy a third safe. And I bought a ton of ammo, quite litterally if it all got weighed together. For all the calibers at least 14k of ammo by an inexact guess, likely more. Not to mention reloading components.

So a lot of folks probably went and bought extra thinking they'd get theirs while it was good getting. I'm still waiting on some more rifle kits to come through(refuse to buy an AR retail, shame is after parts kit and receiver it's like buying one brand new three years ago).

My classes are on pause till my law school exams are over but I got seventy people on backlist(only forty have paid the deposit, I'm a NRA certified pistol instructor) and I'm not even advertising my classes yet, and I was tallying my students total last week and I've taught nearly sixty folks through the classes in just around two months.

The more gunnies out there the better we are, granted we want those gunnies to be safe, legal, responsible gunnies who obey the law and don't paint gun owners in bad pictures.

Actually us clever Texans have our CHL and can bypass the NICS check.

I like the disclaimer "above totals indicate the number of checks requested, not firearm transfers". Wouldn't want to let out the secret you can get several guns with one check :)

California's total surprises me, as does Illinois, with all the extra requirements they put up. NY, NJ & MA seem to being doing quite well suppressing the exercise of the 2nd Amendment.

If they ever come for our weapons I hope people won't hand them over to a pinko-pansy group like this. If they don't have an LAV with a 25MM Bushmaster pointed at my house I'm not even answering the door. And right before that I'll probably have experienced a tragic boating accident.
