Agree with other posters... If you can find a 226 in your price range, you will have fulfilled your mission in style. The CZ is awesome though.

I say go "Old School".

Heavy? Check. Durable? Check. Can hold 15+ rounds? Check, if you get the 32-round drum attachment. Under $650? Well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad!

How about a Stoeger Cougar in 9mm. Heavy, durable and way under $650 new. Mine has aftermarket Beretta grips.

CZ P01..(14+1) Ultra reliable, perfect size and weight. Good carry gun also.

Let me suggest Baikal Viking.

Its tough, metal, heavy and holds 18 shots. And it may be found quite cheap.

FN's High Power or a 1911 in 9mm (not sure who makes them in your price point thou)

CZ, HiPower or Sig.

I own a couple of the first one. Had a HP, but foolishly sold it.:banghead: Shot a buddies Sig, liked how it shot, but not how it fit.

While I love my Walther PPQ and consider it one of the finest 9MM pistols available today I would not consider it to be "heavy" as the OP desires.

I like my CZ PCR. It is heavy enough but will only carry 15 if you have one in the tube. Haven't had any problems and it shoots all the bulk and cheap tuplio russian hard ball ammo with out a hick up and very accurate

sorry forgot to say it is under 600. The metgar mags work as good as the factory, in fact they look almost the same. Just my two cents. Might try going to the range and trying out a few that they have to rent. Shooting will help with your decision but the danger there is you may find several that you just can't live without. lol Good luck

Ahhh missed the heavy part. It does have metal mags tho! But yes, it is not that heavy in the end. If I can shoot well with it, i dont care how heavy or light it is...thats not the point. Thats why PPQ amazed me. Great gun.
