That one gun...

Ruger #1V. When I was a kid, I thought that was about the prettiest rifle ever made. I was in my 40's when I finally could afford one, I think I paid around $550. I went into a big gun store, had them trot out every single one, and bought the one with the nicest wood. It happened to be in .223 and I have killed thousands of ground squirrels with it.

I was one of THOSE guys that thought pistol caliber carbines (especially ARs) were a waste of time. It's actually an unbelievably fun little gun, and excellent training tool that I probably shoot 5xs as much as any other rifle I own. Doesn't tear up my AR500 targets at CQB distances and does a better job replicating a 5.56 AR recoil than a .22LR does.

The only downside is I'm spending more time attached to my Dillon cranking out 9mm ammo.

I debated for a long time before purchasing my Colt 1911, mainly due to pricing. However, now that I have it, I will never let it go.
