It's a stupid question. The person asking the question knows darn well if you WERE a threat to them, they SURE AS HECK WOULDN'T STICK THEIR NOSE IN YOUR BUSINESS AND ASK YOU WHY.

And that right there should be all you need to know about that "person" asking the stupid question. They have somehow been conditioned to think a gun's purpose is for doing evil, and yet they look at you and wonder why someone like you would be walking around looking for evil to do. So they think they are going to outsmart you by asking the question when in reality they've just outsmarted themselves merely by asking it.
