What type of pistol do you or someone you know carry? And why is that particular pistol carried (if you know)......

Sccy CPX-1, and because it is one of the least expensive firearms you can get, with a lifetime warrantee, a good set of stuff in the package, as well as being one of the smallest double-stack 9mms in existence.

Sure it can't use +p ammo, and there are reports of issues, but so far it has worked just fine for me, and is surprisingly comfortable to shoot.

While living in Alaska I carried a full frame 10mm Tanfoglio witness. I carried it because it is accurate, inexpensive, handles well, is comfortable to shoot, will handle full pressure rounds, and 15 rounds of 10mm per magazine is "sufficient" This was my open carry while hiking.

My Beretta 92FS was my first pistol, purchased in 1997. I bought it by reputation only, and while larger and heavier than other choices, I have kept it. I have also since gone into the military service, where I have fielded several M9 pistols over the years, up to and including the one I use at my day job.

I have so much experience with the 92FS/M9 platform that my personally owned pistol still remains my go-to weapon in all but the hottest weather. Muscle memories will ensure that if I have to put all the marbles on one shot, I hope I'm carrying a Beretta 92-series.

Though, I'm pretty handy with a Makarov PM, too...

I carry a CZ P-06 & a Taurus PT745 Millenium pro.Ive carried the P-06 for 4yrs now,never failed to fire & an excellent shooter.The PT745 i carry as a back up,cause its a light .45acp,very small but has a good grip to it

Kel-Tec Pf9 most of the time because it's lightweight, accurate, and works every time. Ruger KP95 on days that I just want to switch things up, but it feels like a brick compared to the pf9

I started carrying a S&W Model 36 back in 1967 when I was assigned to work in south central LA after the Watts riots in 1965. Now days it's a Model 637.

See post 5 for me as well (PF9 and P95.)

Also, a P32 (Kel-Tec) goes with me to and from my no-carry work site because it's easily pocket-carried in my uniform pants.

Easy to carry, very easy to conceal, and I carry what I'm confident I can make good hits with at speed.

If you're going to carry subcompacts and micro-minis, make sure you're putting the thousands of rounds downrange necessary so you gain some level of competence with them. Take them to defensive matches, and/or take training classes with them. Do something REAL so you understand clearly what your limitations are with those "carry-only" guns and build better skills to compensate.

Lots of folks spend hours plinking (or blazing) with their "range" guns -- and maybe can turn a 6-second El Prez with that 1911, even -- but when they go out armed into public places there's a Kel-Tec .380 in their pocket. Don't be that guy!

A Springfield CCO because I feel that the commander slide sitting on the officer's frame is the best combination of concealment and reliability of the 1911 platform.

SIG P250 9mm subcompact slide on a bobbed compact grip module for ease of carry & 15+1 capacity. Excellent DAO-style trigger (long but smooth & light) so no manual safety to worry about manipulating under stress:

Kahr CM9 for those times I simply cannot carry the SIG:

My primary carry guns are the Glock 26, Taurus 617 (seven shot .357 snubbie)
and the Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special for cold weather carry. During the
warm months I carry the Ruger LCP and Taurus 851. (smaller frames are easier
to conceal with less clothing) My budget carry guns serve me well!

I switch off between a S&W 6906 (9 MM) and a S&W 4006 (.40 S&W)

They are essentially identical in terms of manual of arms and close enough in size that I can use the same holster for both

I like the bersa thunder 380. And have carried it. Good features, and at the at the time of purchase 380acp was in and there was no 9mm ammo and other ammo choices were low to none. The thunder 380 also was seen by others as a well built and reliable weapon, also the price was reasonable.
Have looked at getting a Taurus 780. Because the size fit me well IMO. And it seems to me a good compliment in size to the thunder.

When I carry, I have a number of options in my carry choices. All of them are revolvers and with one exception they are chambered for the .357 Magnum round.

Lately, I've been carrying my S&W 442 a lot. Primarily because I have a lot of .38 Special ammo laying around... Haven't bought much 9mm, .380, and .45ACP ammo in a while.

I also have all the guns listed in my sig.

For me it is usually a XD-40 or a Kel Tec P-11. I prefer the XD but use the Kel Tec when I need something smaller. There are tons of options out there & each person just has to figure out what works for them.

I carry the Glock 23. I am a LEO and my duty weapon is a Glock, so I like to keep to the same platform. When the G-23 is too large, I carry my SP-101 (.357) in the small of my back.

My current carry battery is a full size steel frame 1911 in .45 ACP, a lightweight commander in .38 Super, and a Kel-tec P32.

If you ignore everything else here, make this the one thing you walk away with.

I carry a Glock 19. Its the only gun I ever carry, and I practice with it on every single trip to the range, without exception. That's another extreme altogether, and while many would chide me for it, it works for me and I know both what I'm capable of, and what I'm not, 100% of the time. That's confidence that familiarity with a dozen handguns can't get you. I carry the Glock because it works. Nothing more to it than that.

Glock 19, because it's relatively small and light and holds lots of bullets. And I've run a bazillion rounds through it. Which means I have a fair-to-middling idea of what I can do with it.

I too agree with Sam1911. I will only carry a gun with which I've had sufficient practice and which has proven reliable.

There are over a half dozen guns in my safe that I could carry based on my hardware criteria (one switch to bang and not SA), and I have carried four of those at least once.

Having become a bit wiser and less conscious of what other people think (at least 10 rounds of at least 9mm and other mantras), I carry a J-frame revolver far and away more than any other handgun. It was my first personally owned firearm, and I am good enough with it to get the job done.

I've begun practicing with a TCP, and it's going very well, but it doesn't have enough rounds through it yet to be trusted with my life.

Next on my list to work up for frequent carry is a Glock 22. In terms of balancing number of rounds without a reload with per-round effect, the .40S&W makes the most sense to me. The 9mm and .45ACP are pretty good for that balance as well, but my only current 9mm is SA (range only) and my only current .45ACP is too heavy for comfortable carry (it's for HD).

I'm also considering carrying a Browning BDA. A metal-framed double stack .380 is very easy to shoot, and 14 rounds of anything is very likely to be enough. The BDA is the sort of pistol that I could hand off to anyone who shoots, even someone who doesn't like recoil, and feel confident he or she will get hits.

Z1D2, the Thunder 380 was what I was carrying before I got the PF9. I was truly impressed with it when I first got it; could not get it to malfunction with any kind of ammo I shoved into it. I even mixed up types and ages of ammo, brass and aluminum-cased. That gun will run them all.

People will tell you it doesn't make much sense to carry that caliber in a gun that big, as 9mm Luger guns are available in even smaller platforms (like my PF9.) But, it's about what you can comfortably run and score hits with well and reliably. My PF9 is easier to conceal and carry than the Bersa, but much less pleasant to shoot.

I hear ya! It may be med-lrg, but like ya said its fun to shoot. And it shoots well. Still walking the taget some at 20 feet and plus but I can hit what I want well enough.

Most of the time, I carry a Ruger SP101 2.25" (bobbed hammer) loaded with Buffalo Bore 38 +P 158 gr lead semi wad cutter hollow points. If I need deep concealment, an LCP in a MIC Holster does the trick. I don't feel quite as well armed, but I can carry basically anywhere--where it's legal to carry of course.

Why I choose these two for carry? Can't get more reliable than a wheelgun and the "FBI Load" is a proven man stopper. Sure, a 125 gr JHP in .357 is another classic, but when dealing with two-legged predators I need to be able to count on quick follow up shots. The lighter recoiling .38 +P allows for this. With four-legged predators (on a woods walk, for example) I will carry full house .357s every time. As for the LCP, I carry it because it's darn small and pretty much invisible with my carry method. I've been caught printing before with the snubbie but NEVER the mousegun.
