What is the cleanest practice ammo you have found? I would like to find something that is cost effective that does not turn the muzzle of my gun black before the first box is empty.

I heared some really nice things about MAGTECH and their CleanRange loads.
Cleaner shooting environments (designed to eliminate airborne lead), cleaner guns and brass casings, lead-free primers, etc.

kcshooter Says:
Why?
Don't you clean your guns after you shoot them?
I prefer performance over cleanliness.
I don't think they are mutually exclusive.

DWARREN123 Says:
My reloads. Only way to go.
I am headed in that direction. I am just not there yet.

I've used a lot of the remington/umc bulk in 9mm. Comes in a yellow box, usually runs $50-$55 for 250 rounds. Runs pretty clean and is fairly accurate.

I remember that PMC ammo used to leave my guns very clean. Not sure if you can still find it these days...

Winchester White Box!

HA, just kidding!

Magtech blue box works well in semi-auto. Don't care for it in revolvers.

I would have said Magtech as well but just recently I ran through 100 rounds of Sellier & Bellot 9mm and when I got home I dumped the brass in my sorting box and forgot about it. I came back a day or so later and looked at the brass and thought I'd already run it through my tumbler and put it in the wrong sorting bin, that's how clean it was/looked!

We have been required to use Win Clean ammo in the Tactical Shooting and Advanced Tactical Shooting courses that I have taken. After 750 rounds of 9mm or 45 ACP in just about 90 minutes, the barrel has remained clean as can be.

WINclean
and Doc.....the fired brass is cleaner inside & out than if i had tumbled it for an hour.:uhoh: weird to be that clean and shiney

I prefer hand loads, I can still load 2.5 - 3 boxes of 40 S&W for about what one factory runs. Universal in 40 S&W is pretty clean, titegroup is pretty good too except it marks the brass a bit, not a big deal for me.

I've never found cheap + quality + clean factory ammunition, you can have one or perhaps two on a good day.

Winclean worked for me:

Win-Clean vs. USA WWB

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently went through a box of .380 WWB and a box of .380 Win-Clean ammo as part of the break in on a Kel-Tec P3AT and I thought I would share the difference between the two.

I used the 90 grn ammo in two separate range sessions to see if the gun was considerably cleaner after 50 rounds. After the 50 USA WWB the gun was as dirty as usually expected, requiring solvent and heavy scrubbing to remove the fouling. After 50 of the Win-clean the gun was just about spotless. All it took to clean the gun was some oil on a brush for a few passes and a lightly oiled cloth wipe-down.

I've used 124 grn 9mm Win clean with similar results.

I didn’t take photos of the gun at the time but you can tell the difference by looking at the cases I saved:

WWB on the right and Win-clean on the left…

WWB on the bottom and Win-clean on the top…

I priced Winclean at Midway. It is just too expensive for practice ammo. Winclean is $29.99 per 50. Also it uses odd ball small primer cases which are a pain to reload.
