In the other James Bond thread, several people mentioned their favorite Bond gun as being something OTHER than the famous Walther PPK. I found that particular thought interesting. Let's run with that...

What gun do you think James Bond should be using?

(I'll post my choice later...;) )

Today or 1965? Today, I'd say the Rohrbaugh, if it really works out, Kahr MK9 otherwise. 1965, I may stick with the Walther. I'll have to think about it.

Browning Hi-Power.
The SAS used it, and Bond should have taken note of what they carried.

In one of Fleming's Bond books he uses some kind of .45 ACP.
The movie makers should have made a note of that.

Yeah... the P7 is pretty Bondsy.

Or maybe a Kahr of some sort.
I really can't believe they went with the P99... :what:

I agree with the BHP. But it should have been a custom compact model made by Q.

Although the HK4 would have been contemporary and very "modern" for the 60's, and the.380 is pretty "big-bore" for the European mindset.

The Kahr T9 with wood grips or a nice 1911 with wood grips. Maybe some Hakan's on them?

Being thourgoughly(sp?) British he should of course have had a Webley.

Hmmm maybe the PPK wasn't such a bad choice after all.

In the Bond books by John Gardner, he traded b/t the H&K P7, the Walther P5, & the ASP S&W 9mm custom pistol.

Today, I could see him going for a S&W Chief's Special 9mm (CS9) or SIG 239. I don't see Bond as the DAO type & would go for something w/ a smooth SA trigger. And I DEFINITELY don't see someone of his refined taste going for "combat tupperware". :D

Besides, that Walther P99--like the Glocks--looks so CLUNKY...

The natural progression would have been the P99, but Bond carrying a poly gun just doesn't seem right. He'd definitely need something in 9mm (if he were American, I would have recommended 45 acp), compact, simple & wayyy cool. A nickle P7 PSP or P7M8 come to mind.

Suppressed USP, covert ops style...If he can't handle the recoil he shouldn't be a secret agent!

Walther P5, or one of the compact 9mm Sigs. Bond can't carry an American gun, and polymer doesn't seem to suit him.

I do wish they'd make a Bond film that wasn't so over the top. Imagine a James Bond movie with a more believeable plot, realistic gun fights, good gun handling, but was still exciting and full of intrigue and beautiful womena and all of that good stuff...

In the earlier days HK P9

Today a Steyr M-Series would do. No nickle plated sissy gun, but more style than a glock.

Bond?? English, probally shoudnt have a gun. Not cricket you know, Look how their crime has fallen since gun ban. :banghead: :
