The ONLY weapons you'll ever need.

Serious Situation you say.

Humm. Just because I am a Southern Gentleman, does not mean I cannot steal something from the other side. "Honey, with one of them, you can have of those you want".

I'll choose my brain as the "always with me, always be needed weapon."

My Brain [/B]says to bribe Corriea's kids with cheese dip. Kids talk daddy Corriea in letting me have access to machine guns, bazooka's and whatever else.

Work smarter - not harder as they say...

:)

CVB - I was there when Y2K popped up. Nothing bad happened though. Isn't it sad that people get upset when bad things don't happen? Think of Hurrican Ernesto. The Floridians down here were actually depressed that it was merely a tropical storm... that's like hoping that the red spot on your @$#& is an STD instead of chaffing. Weirdos. It IS just chaffing, right??? Dear God!

to The Good-

Ummmm, no. That would mean that I'd have to have fashion, right? I pretty much wear the same crap every day. And why would I want to live anywhere other than the good ol' USofA??

Steve,

Oleg and I will be sure to swing by and pick you up, en route to Larry's. No need to resort to bribery. You just regale us with stories, as we take to plundering those less prepared than ourselves, and I'll let you choose your own MG - M-16 or Uzi?

*AK-47. Semi or full auto
*3000 rounds of ammo (Silver Bear/ Wolf)
*A bunch of 40rnd. RPK Mags.
*a couple boxes of $1.99 orange foam earplugs from Walmart to protect my hearing

You're set.

VET, well you guys take care of the region that you're in and I'll work my way up from here while gathering supplies and forces. However, tolls? If anyone were to try to stop me from getting my beloved fiance' to safety, I might have to upset their plans. Warlords? I'm sure there are a lot of vets that would stand in your way. Why fight for freedom for so many years just to have someone oppress your own nation? However, taking control of your own city and setting up a safe-haven tax... that's another story.

If anyone were to try to stop me from getting my beloved fiance' to safety

I'm sure he'll be just find with the amount of firepower you are planning to lug around in your Jeep.

Yamato,

You'd be better off with 30-round mags, as opposed to 40-rounders, for a couple reasons.

1) It's easier to find mag pouches for the 30's than the 40's; and 30's will fit into pockets much better, with less chance of falling out, or getting banged up.

2) Unless you're using a bipod, it is difficult to effectively fire from the prone with 40's. This is especially true on the 2-way LiveFire range, when you want to be as close to the ground as possible. Trust me, even the buttons on your shirt seem to be too big at those times.

3) If you're running a rail mount underneath your Avtomat, with a vertical foregrip, it's much easier to swap 30's than 40's.

Yeah, the extra 10 rounds sounds like an attractive bonus, but it's not too difficult to swap mags on an AK. For those times when you REALLY need a large volume of suppressive fire, quickly, you'd be better served by keeping a 75 round drum in a pouch on your LBV/LCE (the US Army SAW pouch fits a drum quite well), as well as possibly keeping another close by, maybe in your assault pack.

It's really not that much. .22lr weighs next to nothing. one assault rifle, a shotgun, and a pair of pistols? all in all, it'd weigh 100lbs max. and SHE'LL be just fine. she's able to take care of herself.

Your fiance is the man you plan to marry; your fiancee (or fiancée) is the woman you plan to marry.

all in all, it'd weigh 100lbs max.

Your original post implies that you will be carrying this on your person. Ever tried to carry 100 pounds of gear over any substantial distance? Or in any kind of heat?

I doubt you'd ever say "It's really not that much" after you've tried it.

But, we can just take this post for what it is. A fun fantasy exercise. With that in mind, I'm glad I'll be headed south, away from Correia's toll booth. :neener:

I apologize for the confusion. the 100lbs would be preferably for the jeep. Hell, Army SF carries 60lb rucksacks for training, right? Since I'm ex-AF, I'd hope to only have to carry a coffee mug and complain about the weather. However, if needs be- I'd stick with a .223, 1911, and .22lr. 25-30 lbs is a hell of a lot easier to carry.

All purpose rifle: M1A with 6 loaded mags and another 300 rounds in bandoliers on stripper clips.

All purpose handgun: SA Loaded 1911A1 with four loaded mags

All of that stuff can be (and has been for years) carried and not present any wieght issues and still have room for other supplies. You would need some minimal load bearing gear and a web belt to keep from really feelin' the weight.

Jerkface- Yeah, it's the name of a mall... however, it's my last name- and I have no clue where that mall is. There a a ton of "Burnside" locations and last names. Damn Scottish breed too much.

Matt... you need a .22 or something with a smaller caliber than .45 for small game. Just add a .22lr pistol or rifle to your arsenal. Not much more to carry and the rounds are versitile.

100 lb rucksacks are doable, but not very fun. Of course, you have to have trained a lot previously. Heck, when I was an FO, it wasn't uncommon for my ruck to exceed 100 lbs., but it's been 4 years since I last did that. Would I try to hump that heavy of a ruck now? No frickin' way, man. That's why God let us invent motorized vehicles!

A little word of advice for those of you are seriously planning for SHTF / TEOTWAWKI, in whatever guise it might be: plan ahead of time, and use layers.

By layers, I mean 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of equipment.

1st line: the stuff that stays with you always; it's in your pants pockets, attached to your belt, or on a drop-leg rig, such as pistol, pistol mags, ID, knife, multi-tool, fire starter, maybe a rifle mag or two, small flashlight.

2nd line: the stuff you absolutely have to have to survive a fight of limited duration; this is the stuff that goes in your LBV/LCE, such as ammo/mags, water, blow-out kit, emergency rations (such as power bar or a stripped MRE), map of immediate area, compass, GPS device, and a small radio, might also include a limited weapons-cleaning kit (toothbrush, small bottle of CLP, rod, bore brush).

3rd line: the stuff you'll require to fight a sustained fight; this is the stuff that goes in your rucksack / assault pack, such as spare clothes, food, extra water, additional ammo, full cleaning kit, binos, sleeping gear, rain gear.

Anything else that you feel you may need can be kept in a vehicle / cache point, such as additional food, water, ammo, weapons, clothes, first aid supplies.

time to resurrect...

Gun Kid.:D seriously do a couple of He-Man 3gun games and
see for yourself. me my SHTF happened when I got married and
had kids..later.

Thanks for the brief, VET.

CVB, in that case, I'm S.O.L. There's no way that you can prepare for the SHTF scenario of marriage and kids, right? Luckily, my sweetheart isn't a golddigger. (She actually makes much more than me) As for kids, she has Lupus (a genetic disease) which keeps us from having kids... so count your blessings.;)

1) I'd take my SKS with an ammo tin from wolf = 640 rounds.
2) XD 40 with all 4 magazines, 155 grain hollowpoint. I'd also have an additional 500 rounds in a plastic container.
3) My mossberg 12 gauge 18" riot gun, 250 rounds of buckshot.

Since I live 45 miles from the nearest major city, I'd stay put, hunt the local deer population for food:D , and let my ammo stash take care of unwanted guest's.:D

OEF_VET ,

You wouldn't dare try to talk me out of the cheese dip now would you?

It is for the children. :D

Stories? Heck I want to hear YOU and Oleg share.

From what I have ascertained you are a one man Abbott & Costella team.

Practice up on the skit they did on going on Safari. :)

Humm...I wonder if Larry has something in wood and blue....*snicker*

Good call Redneck! Amazing how everyone says that country people have it bad because they don't have all the amnemities of the city. However, they certainly do have it good when SHTF, don't they? No thugs, no zombies, and the country side is less likely to be bombed than a big city.

Talk you out of it? No. But I would certainly use full-auto weapons as a bribe.

Oleg is far too kind in his praise.

Speaking of the tactical wheelbarrow, aren't you glad Gunkid isn't around:D

That being said, I'd go with a Springfield GI and a Remington 870 with assorted shells and three barrels;)

I would need to go to office depot and get a few more boxes of ammo for my rubber band gun.

I am such a good shot it is all I need for every purpose including small game and big game hunting, sniping, and suppression of zombies. :)
