Think about this? (What Places are Inappropriate for Concealed Carry?)

I've, um, ah, done some of those.

Quote:
Places not to carry:

- Swimming pool
- Shower
- Football/baseball field, if you're in the game (insert shotgun formation joke here)
- Inside an MRI machine
- Operating Room (as the patient)
- Skydiving (you wanna land on that hammer spur?)

I've carried a .380 to a waterpark in my swimtrunks.
Alright, I've never carried a gun in the shower. Immediately outside, yes. Inside, no.
I've played baseball with a sidearm. Sliding was a no-no.
No MRI procedures for me.
Never been armed on the table.
I've jumped out of a few airplanes, some of them on Uncle Sams' time. Armed a few times.

Carried at a Mass with the Cardinal just recently. Just another part of me. That’s all.

The Gym ?

I work out at home so... it's near by... just incase I need to shoot the blasted Elliptical!

Your grandma's House ?

Both Grans are gone. They are either (hopefully) "upstairs" or "downstairs". In either case, Kinda pointless to carry there. Probably won't have a gun.

A funeral ?

I don't intend to let me or mine become the NEXT guest of honor at a funeral so why not? It goes where I go unless it's illegal.

A Wedding ?

Can you think of a better place????? Now a reception may be a different matter. Open bar = no carry. If I have to pay, then yes.

Snow Skiing ?

There is something wrong with people who snow ski. Seriously wrong. They seem to be right up there with folks who throw themselves out of perfectly good airplanes. But who knows. I may befriend some crazed Swiss person who will talk me into a faux Biathlon with a K31? In that case… a Sig would be appropriate.

I go along with Feud #6, Hook686 #13, and others in that I would respect the rights of those whom I knew (or could reasonably infer) did not want me to carry on their property -- at least in the case of private homes and functions where I would be considered a guest rather than, say, a customer or client.

IMHO, if I am going to stand up for my own rights, I need to respect the rights of others as well. The "right" to not be around firearms is certainly not codified/recognized in the same way that the RKBA is, but I recognize that right as existing, within reason, on a private person's own ground.

regards,

GR

The only places where I don't carry are in bars, at the gym, and while swimming. It's just plain logical to leave the guns at home when you're drinking; and the clothing required for exercising and swimming makes carrying impractical.

The last one may change someday, because I think the little pocket inside my swimming trunks would hold a NAA mini revolver quite nicely. :D Don't know how the ammo would hold up, though.

I do agree that it would be disrespectful to carry on someone else's property after they have asked you not to.

In Michigan, churches are off limits unless the Pastor/leaders give their permission. I'm just going through my CPL process now....and haven't asked about permission yet.

That said....I'm thinking that when I'm dead and in my coffin....I probably won't be armed. However, I'd expect my friends to be!!!

Nowhere should be off limits IMO

Wow. Sounds like alot of us have been down the same road with this decision. I made it simple on myself, because this subject has been posed to me alot in the past with too many gun-fearing people who think they know what's best for me. Most of them wouldn't or couldn't do much for their loved ones if evil came to them. Frankly, I'm sick of discussing it with them, and it doesn't end well. So here's what I decided:

If they don't need to know, they don't get to know. Even family and friends. My wife and children, and my parents - know I carry a gun, but they know I'm not a violent person and am only going to be forceful when I need to be, if you know what I mean. There is no longer anything but top quality concealment gear in my collection -without exceptions- now. Everything gets tested for comfort and concealment before it hits the street. I will not allow myself to use inferior concealment gear that makes me uncomfortable or obvious with a gun. If you are uncomfortable, someone might possibly realize why...!

I don't carry in places that would have enough power to put me in jail or confiscate my gun for any reason. Other than that, well...

Hmm, nail polish(or ca glue) comes to mind :D

For those talking about the shower, a nudist camp or skinny dipping, how do you carry concealed? Where do you hold your permit?

Oh yeah, I don't carry if I'm drinking in public.

I also avoid drinking in public. :)

How about on your wedding day ? Strapped with your nine at the alter ? Thats straight up ganster,,,,,,

 John

Nuclear power plant (restricted areas).

If you get a rednecks daughter pregnant, you can bet he'll be the best man and packing at the wedding.

I agree with werewolf. when i wake up in the morning and head for the coffee pot my nightstand gun goes with me. when i leave the house one of my pistols goes with me.

After due thought, I choose bed. My wife says it tears up the sheets.:D She won't let me wear spurs either.

Where is it inappropriate to drive with a seatbelt? Where is it inappropriate to to have a fire extinguisher nearby?

I don't view carrying as being an 'active' approach to anything. Like a seatbelt, fire extinguisher, etc., it's something I'd hope to never use, but hope was there if I ever needed it (Despite Obama, I don't 'cling' to it).

The only time that packing is "inappropriate" for me is when I'm not in full control of myself like when I'm drinking. That's it. Period.

In church? Church people kill..... even during church.
At a wedding? There have been some pretty bad incidences at receptions.
The gym? Why not?
Grandma's house? She was raised with guns all over the house!
During sex? Well.... the holster scratches.
In the middle of a heated argument? How are you going to get rid of it?

inappropriate

First off I have to agree with Werewolf, you shouldn't need a special permit to exercise a constitutional right. (The second amendment isn't the only one being eroded. Free speech and assembly are being turned into privileges as well.)

As for inappropriate, I guess anyplace where you might not be able to maintain control of your firearm at all times, or any circumstance where you might be impaired and unable to exercise good judgment or operate your firearm with the necessary proficiency. If you're taking prescription medications that significantly impair your judgment or reflexes, or if you plan to have a few drinks somewhere, or if you're going swimming and don't have a safe place to store your firearm while you're in the water...other than that, as long as you're a responsible gun owner, there's zero threat to anyone's safety from your practice of carrying a gun, so there should be zero restrictions about where you can carry it. The gun is no more dangerous in one building or location than another.
