Do you carry in church?

I do not regularly attend however I can't bring myself to carry in places of worship when attending weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations, etc.

What do others think? Disrespectful or perfectly acceptable?

thing is...you dont get to pick when and where something might happen. keep it concealed well.

I don't go to church, but I'd imagine the god I've been hearing about wouldn't
have a problem with honest self defense.
Like 'gun-free' school zones... I'd rather not ensure a 'safe' environment for Bad Guys.

Well, I’m Jewish, and I figure if something is going to happen to me there’s a good chance it’ll happen at my synagogue due to anti-Semitism. There is a large group of us who are packing at synagogue and I don’t see anything wrong with it at all. We don’t feel like its and abomination to G-d if we protect ourselves and our communities. I find this is a pretty prominent practice with a lot of religious Jews.
(Oh! I forgot to mention that CC in a church in GA is a big NONO. The laws don't say anything about synagogues though.)

Yuppers not to mention that church is the place you are most in danger...well atleast mentally.

I tend to think that, were I inclined toward "communal" prayer rather than managing my relationship with my Creator solo, since He created me with what's called a "guardian" personality-type, He would want me to do whatever I could within reason to make sure His house and His guests therein were protected.

Then again, the entire universe IS His creation, anyway...

Just my own thoughts.

I'm not a church goin' man and I'm not at all sure what I believe, but if I go somewhere without a metal detecor, I'm packin' be it funerals or weddings.
I figure that God can make my gun disappear if he doesn't agree with my decision to protect me and mine.
Thus far, me and God have been on the same page concerning this matter.

I don't think self-defense is offensive to God at all.

I don't carry IN church (because I'm not clear on the CC laws,) but there's a few in my car. In case of emergency, several church members know it.

We go to church every sunday. I would carry if we had a law here in wisconsin. But I don't worry about it to much my pastors Son-in-law is a Sheriff's Deputy and He CCW's and sits way in the back of church!

Not legal in some places. Don't know of any passage in the Bible forbidding weapons in the church... and I have heard of people breaking into cars at churches before. Gun's safer while on you than alone in the car.
As for being disrespectful, I don't see it thataway. God generally does the things that we can't do - turn water into wine, feed five thousand with a sack lunch, raise the dead, etc. The things that are within your power to accomplish are your problem. You shouldn't expect God to brush your teeth or cut your hair.
Extrapolating that into the preservation of your life is another matter, though. We can't do anything/much about certain diseases - Alzheimers and others. If cancer takes over and ruins your internals, God's probably the only one that can handle the matter.

I say God's given us the tools to protect ourselves from many threats to our lives: antibiotics, vaccines, vitamins, body armor, guns. They're all useful for certain situations - Amoxil will help you get through the flu, but it won't cure cancer. One vaccine will ensure that you don't get chicken pox, but you can still get a cavity - but the use of a toothbrush could prevent that. A gun can help protect you from a housebreaker or mugger, but it won't do any good if Curious George the Gangsta decides to just shoot you in the back of the head on the street for no reason.

I drive an ugly car with no visible valuables. I doubt it'd get broken into, but if they did...good luck finding the hidden gun. I have yet to have someone guess where it is, even passengers who know that there's a few in the car.

No, having it in the car won't protect me from a drive-by, and I know that crime can happen anywhere, but some sorta hostage situation, or a prolonged massacre, maybe someone'll be able to get to it.

God's House?

God gave us Sam Colt and John Moses Browning.

It's only good manners to show Him you appreciate that.

Besides, with Colonel Cooper watching us and reporting back to the Man Upstairs, I'd be right embarrassed to be caught in church without some token of my respect.

"God's house"?

Everything I have is because of the grace and will of God. I would be undeserving and unappreciative to allow someone to take my life, whether it's at home (a place arguably more sacred than a 'church', because we worship and carry out God's original intent for us in our homes - raising the next generation) or at church. I do not see there as being something particularly special about a Church in God's eyes; it's in our eyes alone, and in my opinion, wrong. A church is just a building where believers - the Church itself (according to Christian dogma) - of a given faith can gather.

That's the long answer. Short answer: it doesn't make a bit of difference where I am.

Sorry for another post, but...

Since this is somewhat topical, it seems to me that most Christians these days are overall "socialists", in that they ascribe to a lot of socialist dogma - public schools, welfare and government healthcare, ban guns, etc. I've noticed that being a "gun owner" in a church doesn't mean you're likely to be a kindred spirit; if it doesn't have t odo with saving aborted babies, there's little that most Church people I've met these days can agree with "Republican" politics.

But I guess that's why I don't attend one anymore. I find my Church elsewhere.

Suicide is a sin

to not defend your life is an affront to God.

in the summer time I notice folks packing in my local Christian Church and my local Catholic Church...(I go to both).

God wants you to use the tools he gave you a brain to make, if he didn't we wouldn't be on top of the food chain.

If any Church told me not to carry I would never go to that Church again and I would pray that Gods will and the sunlight of the spirit shine upon them.

Nowhere in the Bible

... dit it ever say "Thou Shalt Not Pack Heat In My Thyne Place Of Worship"... Depending on congregation size and how well they might know you, I would try my best to keep such a thing as hidden as possible. People tend to panic if they see some random dude sitting in the back row with a ruger blackhawk hanging from his jeans (not very smart)... A taurus .22 or a walther ppk that wouldnt be to heavily noticeable in your pocket is a smarter idea
