Could family size, living arrangments and lifestyle have an effect on firearms ownership (or atleast participation in firearms related discussion).
The largest groups in the poll so far are the 22-27 crowd, and the 50-60's.
You have the 22-27's, a big transitional age, just getting out of college. Maybe they're living independant of their parents for the 1st time. Little responsibility outside of holding down a job and paying bills, since they live in an apartment and have no kids to chase after. Maybe they'll take up shooting. (Yes, I am generalizing here).
Then there's the between ages. They start buying huge houses with lotsa lawn to cut, and projects to tackle every weekend. Not much time for shooting. Then the baby comes along. Dad starts working overtime, then there's Cub Scouts, Suzie's ballet lessons, Little League, etc. Their bigest concerns are pushing little Timmy to take up more activities in school so he can get into a "good" college... and getting the latest 8-passenger minivan to haul their 2 kids in.
50-60 year olds... a big transitional age, just getting out of a career. Maybe living independant of their kids for the 1st time in 21 years. Little responsibility outside of budgeting their pension checks, since they now live in an over-50 condo community, and have no kids to chase after. Maybe they'll take up shooting.
Yep, there's the pattern... but I'll be darned if I know what it means
I suspect that I'll be flamed by 22 year old retirees, 50 year old new dads, and a bunch of minivan drivers at any moment now.
(FWIW, I'm 31, no kids, and would love to live in a condo).
