Vehicle carry?

It's on my hip, OWB approx 3.30 as usual .... sits in a hi-ride and finishes up just behind seatbelt buckle ..... accessible without too much hassle. There will at times be a glovebox BUG. In my truck .. door pocket is fiddly to get at ... and folks can see in it when door open too.

Always on my person .. the only way I feel comfortable ... can't forget it that way either!:)

I carry mine iwb as well. But I also carry an extra in a fobus pistol mount that I installed in my pickup. It is a very slick and easy to reach in a emergency.

If I'm going to be doing a lot of driving, I put on a nylon crossdraw rig. I don't have a decent leather one yet for my 1911.

Rickster;

I'm also left-handed & usually carry IWB. I've thought about your solution & others, but haven't done anything to date.

I don't want to leave a gun in the vehicle & am not comfortable with the transfer hassle either. Fortunately, car-jacking is an unknown crime here in Montana. Road rage though, isn't.

When I travel, there's frequently a short-barreled 870 in the car.

jmcc11,

I bought a bunch of Fobus stuff off a dealer who used to post on this forum. I just can't remember his name. Anyhow it's called the Universal Home & Vehicle Mount. I just checked the Fobus online catalog and they still list it. http://www.fobusholster.com/ You buy the mount and then you can attach any fobus roto holster. I would imagine you could get any fobus dealer to order it for you. I think they will also sell direct. Hope this helps.

When I'm in the car (a Chevy Lumina), I push the barrel down between the front seats; leaves the grip a real handy grab right next to me.

Best Deal on Fobus

Give this guy a call. He has done me well and I love my Fobus stuff I have purchased from him. He has the BEST pricing on Fobus I have ever seen.

Tell him Steve Levi from Little Elm, TX sent you.

Currently I carry mine in the usual spot, IWB 3:30.

I saw that universal car/house mount today online while doing some browsing. I'm very impressed. I will definitely have to check that out. How hard was it to install, M16? Did you need to drill hole sin the floorboard to bolt it in or anything?

Steve Levi, I just found some peice from Fobus I want to get. I may give your guy a call. Does he work for Fobus? where is he located in the country?

Kel-Tec P-32 in the center console of Ford Ranger

S&W 4516 in the glove box

The Kel-Tec goes in my pocket when I leave the truck. The 4516 goes in an IWB holster, depending on what I'm wearing

I usually carry in my smartcarry worn a little higher than usual so the grip is sticking out above my belt or I carry it as a verticle under the arm crossdraw. In winter I’ll carry in the right front pocket of my coat.

Some good ideas here. Remember to comply with state laws where required, to avoid a felony rap and losing your RKBA after a traffic stop.

A lot of time I'll only have a Kel Tec 380 in my pocket.

But other than the carry guns I'm wearing, the cars and truck have a pistol by the driver's seat and 1 or 2 pistols elsewhere.

There's also an M1 Carbine or SKS as close by as possible.

Here's how I keep my Browning HP in my truck's console.

I got a cheap nylon holster with an adjustable thumbbreak. Took the thumbbreak off, and used the velcro panel on the holster to mount the holster in the console. On the console side, I used Shoe Goo to glue the opposite side of the velcro inside the console. It keeps the gun secure...as you can see, I've got plenty of room for CDs (Lyle Lovett is currently playing :D ), and I've got room for other odds and ends. The gun is almost always hidden from view, and the console is lockable in the event I need to leave the truck for any length of time.

What's the FMS gadget mounted on your dash?
This is a very long story, but the short version is that my truck runs on either Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or unleaded. The gadget is the control to switch between the two. FMS=Fuel Management System.
