I was allowed to shoot in the yard when my parents were home but I was never allowed to leave the yard with a gun and was not to touch a gun unless I had their permission. When I got older my best friend was allowed to shoot whenever and wherever he wanted to. My parents told me that when he was shooting, I was not to go with him.
I shot pretty much every day from the time I was nine years old with my own guns, and friends guns. I fired 10s of thousands of rounds of ammunition behind my parents back.
