We Need to Inform Our Hunting Buddies!

Just want to pop in and let you guys know that there are MILLIONS of us hunters out here who DO get it. Don't let Zumbo give us all a black eye, because we are just as ticked off as you are....... even us bow hunters get it.

Cool site BTW..... think I may spend some time here where there is a little semblance of sanity, lol.

I'm one of those that questions the authenticity of the Brady MySpace page. Looks more like the personal page of a male, 27 year old, California fanboy than anything one might expect from a politically savvy D.C. gun-grabber group.

Most notable, apart from adopting Mr. Zumbo as poster-child for AWB '07, is the frank targeting of sniper rifles in the 2/18 blog entry noted above. The description of what constitutes a sniper rifle clearly includes anything similar to the M-24 weapon system, which any hunter would quickly realize is his Remington 700 with Leopold scope.

A call for banning scoped M700s just doesn’t seem consistent with the more polished lies handed out at the Brady website. Were they to hop on this Myspace bandwagon I would expect NRA's membership to double overnight as hunters and sportsman saw their 700s, Dakotas, Kimbers and Winchesters suddenly in the spotlight.

After all, there’s a bigger difference between an AR-15 and an M-16 than would be enjoyed by a scoped 700 versus an M-24. The Myspace blog even includes the "thuty-thuty" in the list of long-range sniper rounds. A more sure-fire way of assuring anyone with a model 94 joins the resistance I could not envision.

Whether by accident or design, the Myspace version of Brady comes off as a parody. Our real enemies are much smarter than this.

I could be wrong. In fact I hope I’m wrong. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Brady endorse banning scoped centerfire bolt action rifles. As Napoleon once said: "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

Should our elected officials live under the threat of reprisal on their lives from disgruntled constituents?
Yes, they should. That is the precise reason the 2nd Amendment exists... as a counter-balance to tyrranical government.

Gee, a .30-30 with depleted uranium core ammo and 6000 fps velocity? I want one!

100 yards is too far a shot in hunting? For squirrels, yeah...

"when used on sporting sized game at range they often just wound the animal, inhumanely forcing it to die slowly " is followed byshoot a high powered bullet that is almost always fatal. They are designed for one thing- delivering powerful overkill with deadly precision ". He needs to settle on one story and stick with it. At least in the same post.

"Let's take every possible feature of any hunting rifle, declare that makes it a sniper rifle, and ban it!"

Standard GFW BS.

And let us not forget the "Many forward thinking, progressive politicians such as Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama" who will tell us ignorant peasants how to live, what we can own and how grateful to be for their wisdom being showered upon us like bird crap from the sky.

Well, I think Jim is just a traditionalist. I can understand. I'd be taken aback if I was walking in the woods with my trusty old rifle (wood and iron) and then see a guy carrying an AR-15. First thought that would come to mind is that is this guy an anti-government militia kook?
It's psychological for sure. So use to seeing that rifle in more of a military setting. Even if my trusty rifle is 3x more powerful than his AR-15 it's just the appearance of the "black gun" that puts people off.

Don't slam Jim Zumbo. I think a lot of people who are on the more traditional side think like that.

Oh by the way, I have no problem with folks carrying what they want in the woods as long as they follow the hunting laws.

That Brady piece goes to show they haven't a clue about guns. Now they are saying that any rifle configured as a sniper rifle has no place....blah, blah, blah. What the hell does that mean? To them, any rifle with a high power scope and ability to reload with a simple "toggle action," I guess they mean a bolt, for crying out loud, is a sniper rifle.

Most tragicly, they are already using Jim Zumbo's incredibly ignorant statements to promote the idea that AR's have no legitimate purpose, even with hunters.

:banghead:

Yeah, that's it, a sling, a bipod, and a scope, and your deer rifle is now a sniper rifle.

These people are truly stupid.

Sorry, I will slam Zumbo. There is no excuse for someone who has been involved in the shooting sports, the NRA, and supposedly RKBA, for as long as he has to have made the statement he did. Irreparable harm has been done the cause.

I thought a traditionalist was someone who understood that RKBA isn't about hunting.

It's gotta be a hoax of some sort. I'm not exactly full of faith in humanity's potential, but no one could be politically moronic enough to deliberately go after bolt-action hunting rifles.

man thats some .30-30. I had no idea. I might have to pick up one of those. next time a deer is hiding in a safe with 3 ft thick armor plating he aint got a chance. if thats what a .30-30 can do, my .30-06 could probably hit deer 3 states over. I bet any amount of money that goofball has never even shot a rifle before, and only knows what a rifle can do from some x box game.

Hey, friend, did you happen to see that comment he made about ARs being "terrorist weapons" that should be banned from hunting grounds? And you'd rather criticize those who take exception to his outrageous ignorance? Hey don't slam the rest of us for being non-traditional.

So why doesn't one of us post this up on a couple of hunting forums and see where it gets us. Nothing like some some hunters joining us for the fight. I actually think this is a good thing if we can now motivate more hunters to become proactive about the 2nd

Should our elected officials live under the threat of reprisal on their lives from disgruntled constituents?

Is there some way to avoid that, short of concentration camps?

Me said:
Weren't the first guns intended for military use? If so, aren't all guns evil military people-killing weapons that civilians should not be allowed to look at?
And come to think of it, wasn't the internet a military tool originally?

If this is real, count on me running chortling all the way to every nook and cranny I can find a hunter.

To paraphrase a Japanese Admiral, calling for a ban on bolt-action scoped rifles will awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

I hope.

Igloodude, they already are. The average non shooter has no Idea about calibers, capabilities or anything that the media has not told them. If you say you can shoot a .308 accurately at 1000 yds all they know is that is far. They do not know a .22 can travel a mile. You would be surprised how much the non shooting public gets out of the media. I have taken non shooters to the range and converted a few. One thing I like doing is asking them which rifle looks more dangerous, my AR or my single shot 45-70 Encore. Obviosly the black rifle looks more dangerous, then I show them the rounds they fire and the expression on their face at the size of the 45-70 is priceless. Sometimes a little education is needed. The anti's only care about ridding the world of guns because it is the only opposition to tyranny. They will say and do anything to achieve this. They think hey are better than us and know what is best for us. Our only recourse is to educate the uneducated through practical aplication and higher moral ground. Soundbites and comments about taking someone out at 300 yds are always misleading and sound bloodthirsty. I hate being PC but unfortunately we are in an age where perception rules and common sense is gone. As freedom loving gun owners we need to educate ourselves to the way of the world in order to funcion in it. The whole world wants America disarmed not just our Government. Read some of the UN resolutions. We are screwed.:(
