What do you do? What do you carry?

I work for an industrial service company. My work can be in a nuclear powerplant today and a refinery the next, any state in the Union today, any country in South America tomorrow. I'm kinda like an industrial problem solver, for hire. I'm even licensed for specialty explosives use in many states and 3 countries.
In a normal year I spend 160- 200 nights a year in motels
I'm always armed, obviously not in the facilities. I get to stay in some really crappy areas, after a crackhead encounter a few years ago, I decided never again.
A fine old Italian switchblade and a fine old East German Mak, and it feeds the Silver bears flawlesly, a very impressive load for this little caliber.

School teacher and military reservist. No weapons allowed on school campuses, though we get a few from the students every year. School is in a very economically and culturally deprived area, and we have the city police on campus often. Am current and qualified with M16 and M9 (Beretta 9mm) and have concealed weapons permit from AF when on duty on certain missions -- I would rather carry my Sig 239 than the M9.
Away from work, the Glock 27 is on the ccw. Next yr, I'm considering the Sig 239 and my Colt DS to be on my permit. When traveling to Bay Area, I'm ususally legally armed, sober and, as someone said, not dangerous.

IT for a Fortune 500 company. No rules about weapon carry at work, which kind of surprised me. Still, I doubt the powers-that-be would look kindly on me carrying my PM9. Oh well. ;)

Firefighter, Wash DC. Obviously the job precludes carrying sidearms even if the local law wouldn't. Have to depend on our brains and all kinds of knives, some of us more knife than others.
Part time I work for a demolition and clean-out company frequently clearing out Section 8 housing. After a run in with some local "businessmen" who were "unaware" of their moving sale I decided it's time to get my CCW. The it'll be CZ-75 all the way. On the downside I also resdie in PRMd so getting the daggom thing is taking a bit of time.

No carry for me at work either!!!

I work at a Nuc Power Plant!! I've seen AR-15's resting muzzle down on somebodies boot!!!! I feel real safe about that!!!! :uhoh:

Oh, I forgot!! :banghead:

Off work, I usually have my G36, but it's has developed a jamming problem of late, so I carry my Kahr MK9 Elite. Until I find a stock slide stop lever for my 36!! ;)

I do sales for a paint store. We sale automotive, household and industrial coatings. I do custom airbrushing as a sideline. I'm trying to decide between a Glock 19 and a Sig 225 so for now the only thing I carry is a pocket knife.

3rd shift in a NOC. I'm the only guy in the NOC on this shift with 2-4 more people in the building. The company spells it out in the employee handbook, NO WEAPONS!!!!! That being said, I'm at work now with my Taurus PT945 .45 ACP in a Galco scout clip holster. Dress for the off shift is much more relaxed, so concealment is easy with my loose untucked flannel shirt. Many times I go with my Kahr K9, because that hides easily under an untucked t-shirt. On the very occasional times I'm on 1st shift, it's the K9 in a Smartcarry holster under my Dockers and tucked in shirt.

Sell software to banks and office out of my home. I travel quite a bit and stay in hotels frequently. I have been carrying a BDA .380 under the seat of my car. I now have a BHP and intend to start putting it there until i can buy a good carry gun I can carry IWB under suit and tie. Needs to be something I can remove easily. Entering banks with guns on you isn't the brightest idea in the world! :uhoh:

Job/carry

Well, I have worked for the USPS (Ungrateful, Stupid Postal Service) as a mail carrier for 22 years now. NO WEAPONS ALLOWED in the building or parking lot. I live in Ohio, where, again, NO CCW.

Now with that said, I am always armed with something. I have the best defensive weapon you could ever have - a brain - which hopefully will allow me to recognize any possible threat before things get ugly. Failing that, I am always carrying a knife of some kind or another.

Yes, I walk into the schools an my mail route with a 'prohibited' knife on my person. My sentiment is that it is too freaking bad. I have a 3-1/2" folder in a sheath on my belt and probably another in my left front pocket. They are tools I use daily on the job, to cut open the bundles of junk mail that I get to fill your mailbox with on a daily basis. I have informed the school secretaries that I am always carrying a knife, and the reason why. They don't seem to have a problem with it. So much for 'zero tolerance' policies, eh?

If we ever do get CCW here in Ohio, I'll probably just stick with the stainless 3" Taurus 85, making no apologies for carrying 'just' a five-shot .38 snub. I may or may not have carried it in the past when travelling to or through bad areas. I can't remember.

I'm in IT for Uncle Sugar, currently in Heidleberg, GE. Usually, I'm one of two persons in the bldg with any sort of "weapon", ie, an SAK, but everyone here has a cell phone, and lots of guards at the gates, so we're safe. No, really. (Oh yeah, forgot - wife and I have kubaton keyrings, we tell sheeple that they're sex toys. They leave us alone.)
We're not allowed to carry firearms here, but are trying to learn as much as possible for when we return Stateside in a couple of years. We're currently making lists of hardware and schools, think I'll just hop on over to "Strategies and Tactics" now. Thanks.

I work for a relatively small Connecticut firearms importer, and I wear several hats there: some customer service, some R&D, some FFL stuff, some technical writing, some new product development brainstorming. On the side, I am in a National Guard infantry unit and an NRA pistol instructor.

Carry gun is a Colt Combat Commander .45 is a FIST #20 IWB. Obviously, no one at my job objects to firearms. Very, very occasionally, and only when extreme concealment is needed, I carry a Slick and Willie 042.

General manager for a mining operation.

Carry a Browning hi-power or full-size 1911 whenever I choose, sometimes a Kel-tec P32 (ashamed to admit) when I don't want a large gun...always carry an early and very beaten-up Benchmade AFCK.

I'm an Internet Sales Manager at a small used call dealership in Florida. I carry a K9. The owner carries as well.

I gave my Colt Detective Special and Colt Official Police revolvers to my brother as a wedding gift.

So its my .45 caliber Ruger Bisley Vaquero or my .31 caliber BP derringer until I finish school and get a real job.

I am currently a substitute teacher (general elementary or special ed through middle school). I hope to get a job as a special ed teacher (not certified yet but worth a try) next year and I'll be starting a MA in special ed either next month or next summer. I also deliver pizza a few nights a week but I'm about to drop that (can't stand it and not too safe).

I live in MD so I can't carry a gun. When I leave MD or if MD goes CCW I will probably usually carry my S&W 65LS with my Bersa in backup (I may get a Kahr K or P 9 if there are any still around here in about 2 months in which case it may replace the Bersa). When I'm in an auto mood it will be a 1911 of some sort (right now I have a Charles Daly, hope to get a SA Loaded this year), my CZ 40B, a CZ PCR or P01 (if I move, can't bring them into MD anymore), and occasionally my CZ 75B and any of them would be backed up by a Taurus 85 or S&W 36 or 60 (I need the .38spl snub). If I would be to carry on those occasions where the situation calls for ignoring the law (i.e. needing to enter a particular bad neighborhood, delivering pizza on New Years Eve- which I didn't BTW, etc) I would probably have my Bersa.

Right now my only carry is a Kershaw 3" assisted folding knife (I'm not sure if the mechanism is modified or if it is the size of the blade that causes it to not qualify under the law as a banned switchblade) on my strong side and pepper spray on my weak side. I'm considering buying a knife with a longer blade for this time of year when people are wearing thicker clothing (it would allow for more tactical options).

I'm one of those evil nuclear security ninjas that won't let the rest of you carry at the nuclear power plants. Issued S&W 40s and AR-15s at work. I carry a Springfield 45 and/or a Kel-Tec P32 at other times.

I'm a Machinist,Tool and Die Maker. I'm in business designing and building tooling for the plastics industry. Mostly molds for plastics injection molding equiptment. I don't carry in the shop but I keep a replica 1875 Remington revolver in .45 Colt in my desk drawer. For CCW I carry a full size series 70 Colt in .45ACP and sometimes a S&W Model 36 Chiefs Special in .38 Special. For open carry when I'm out in the boonies I carry a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt in a buscadero rig.
