What Gun Just for the Pure Unadulterated Joy of It?

The most fun gun I've ever shot is an M1 Carbine. There's enough "bang" to feel like a real rifle, but it's soft enough to burn up hundreds of rounds without developing a permanent twitch.

I'm about to buy a Draco pistol "for the pure unadulterated joy of it"... and for home defense :D

Nothing like packing a rifle cartridge into a pistol platform and letting it rip

To top it off, I can carry that beast concealed in december and january (the only two months that are reliably cold enough to wear a jacket)

An old Winchester 1892 in 38-40 or 44-40

Smooth action, no recoil, fairly quiet, big fat slow moving bullet.

For extra fun load it with black powder.

Maybe it's just me, but I find shotguns really fun. Maybe buy an old 870 Wingmaster or even a Winchester 1300? Heck, since it's just for fun, tacticool the heck out of it.

Kel Tec SUB2000. Most likely you can find a model that shares magazines with one of your handguns. Folding mechanism is cool and ammo is relatively cheap(in 9mm at least).

Or call me crazy, but what about one of those Braztech/Rossi matched pair single shot .22/.410 combos? Yeah I know it's not American but hear me out. After all kinds of more serious firearms, I wouldn't have thought I could have fun with a single shot .22, but I shot my 6yo nephew's and had more fun at the range that day than with anything else. Getting back to basics is satisfying and I love how it ejects the spent brass right over your shoulder when you break it open. Cool. They also have them in many different caliber/gauge combos. Cheap too at about ~$175 if I recall.

Ah, yes. That's what my two Mare's Legs are made out of. (New parts, of course, and made as pistols from scratch.) You might like one(or two) as well!

See Post #47.

In other words, I have all the working guns I need, and I would like a gun just for fun, but I am not going to spring $7,000 for the Winchester Model 21 trap gun that I'm lusting for.

My 50BMG and belt fed 308 are "just for fun" guns and both combined cost less than 7K.

Not really sure how to respond to this ... maybe because I don't have "work guns". I shoot for fun and relaxation, I really like my MP5 clone, my AUG A2 and 556-SBR

ALL my guns are for fun. I have limited myself mostly to .22 rimfire, and pistol caliber center fires that I can reload at home (38 spl .357, .45acp). These rifles and pistols are mostly cheaper and I can burn thru ammo without a care for expense. A really nice Savage pump .22 made in 1929 ~350$, a new Marlin 60 $150.00. A nice Hi Standard Target pistol $350-600. Feeling flush?? a really nice S&W target pistol $850.00 A Marlin 39 lever action .22 ~$400, a CZ in full stock... beautiful - ~$450.

Get one in every action type, the hunt for them is fun too.

Hello friends and neighbors // I know you have the Riot Shotguns covered with some fine examples.

How about inviting the Wesson's over for a stay. They keep showing up at my house, just for the Pure Unadultered Joy of it.

Here are a few:

Let's see: Fun, Cheap to feed, American made. Sounds like my T/C Hawken rifle. Big boom, lots of smoke, big hole in target. Serious grin factor.

AT-14.... I like my AR, I like my shotguns... This gun serves no purpose except for the fact I get the best of both worlds and it's a helluva conversation piece wherever I go. I like to freak out people at the skeet range; that's enough for me ;)

Anything that shoots the .204 Ruger round. Mine happens to be a TC Encore but that's just because it was the best deal i could find on a .204.

Guaranteed to put a smile on your face everytime you touch one off, but nothing compared to the smile on a youngster's face when they shoot one and say, "It doesn't kick at all!!!!"

For a handgun I'd got with a full sized 1911 in 9mm, would be plenty of fun to shoot with very little recoil.

For a rifle I'd have to go with a CMP M1 or M1 Carbine.

Although, a Marlin 1894 in .357 would be loads of fun too...

I've got a couple, both single action revolvers. One is a Taurus Gaucho SAA in .45 Colt with a beautifully case-hardened frame and deep blue barrel. I really have no reason to own it other than the fact that I love the way it looks and the way it handles.

The other is a Pietta 1858 NMA black powder revolver. Power wise it's outclassed by pretty much every handgun I own but it's so much fun to load and fun to shoot that it goes with me nearly every time I go to the range.
