Greeting's All-

T'was just wondering what is the wildest, most satisfying gun trade that
you have ever been a partner in? By wildest (or biggest) did you trade
2 guns for 1, 3 for 1, guns + cash, etc? I can think of a couple that I
have made recently, and it started this way. I had a 5" S*W model 629
.44 maggie on hand, then I bought a brand NIB Para SSP .45 ACP. After
a while, I traded both of these on a brand NIB Kimber Raptor II .45 ACP.
Then, after a little while longer I traded the Kimber Raptor, with a 2.5"
S&W model 19 .357 magnum and a S&W 6906 9m/m in on a brand NIB
Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special .45 ACP~!:D Now, I done as I have
what I want:cool:, so NO more trades for me~!:uhoh: ;)

A few years back I traded a .25 Beretta, a Iver Johnson tp 22 and an AMT .380 back up even for a NIB West German marked Sig 228. Probably my best. Joe

Sorry, but most of my trade-ins have been to gunstores. So, I never really did come out on the top end. Plus, thinking back, I've traded away some nice older models for a new current model.

Some of my trade stories are like a soap opera, would take a day to just type.

One simple one, traded a BPS Trap that I had $275 in for a like new 10-22 and a S&W M19. 10-22 sold for $175, prettiest piece of wood on it I have EVER seen on a 22. M19 wasn't pinned, but was NIB, sold it for $325. Bought a M19-4 in 95% for $315 and a M37 in 99% for $175. Mega happy with that trade, sell, buy.

In two years time... I started w/Walther P99 in a.40, traded for S&W 696, still not happy traded for Colt commander. Great gun but not quite right so trade for G20c. also enjoyable but recently traded it for High Standard Trophy from board member here at THR.

The strange twist is that I sold a small 8 piece collection of High Standards about 5 years ago and this gun is just like the one I bought new in 1978 and sold with the set. Great fun but I think I'm done and will keep the 'Trophy'!

here's mine

my boss at the sewing factory gave me two bullet resistant vests, that i traded for a nib sks &1000 rounds of ammo.six months later buddy wants his sks back, trades me s&w m&p 38 spec rev. buddy#2 drools over revolver trades me 1978 ford camper special pick up. year later buddy#2 falls in love with 12 ga noble pump and trades the s&w back to me. i'm telling co-worker about this deal and he offers a 1970 international scout for the s&w. i've sold the scout, still drive the pickup. not counting gas, oil, tires, etc i've spent $70 on these trades(cost of noble was only cash of mine involved).

I had a Bill Bagwell hand forged Bowie knife. I paid $750 for it in '82. A year or two later I traded it to a guy for the following guns:

1. Ruger stainless Redhawk .44
2. Ruger stainless Blackhawk .357
3. Star PD .45
4. Blued Charter Bulldog .44
5. Nickeled Hi-Standard .22 Mag Derringer
6. Ratty 1917 S&W .45
7. Ruger Mk. II .22lr

Trade? NEVER!

I'll just buy more so that I can never feel regret over getting rid of one.

I'm with Spot77 on this; every gun I've owned I refuse to sell/trade. If they don't work at first, I fix them until they do.

I traded an Italian Vetterli-Vatali.....

straight across for a Shmidt Rubin 1911.......chris3

I've only made one trade, my whole life, that I can recall. It actually did involve a gun (a brand new 1989 Colt 1911 Government in blue for a 1983 Husqvarna WR-430 dirtbike - straight trade). I have every gun I've ever bought, except that one, and I have regretted it ever since.

Amen Spot and 3rd - we never sell or trade, never!

Just a little patience, a little more money, and we can always ADD that new "wann'em".

It wasn't a gun 4 gun trade, but I traded my time working on a 1903 stock for a Enfield #5 jungle carbine. I'm sure I got the better end of it. :)

I now regret it, but I traded a S&W 629 .44 for a BHP clone a few years ago.At the time I was thinking "capacity".
no more trades of guns...........

I had a Kel-Tec P11, which I sold to my brother in law. I had the money in my pocket while walking through Wal-mart a couple nights later, and they were putting 3 shotguns in the case with clearance stickers (A Mossberg 500 Youth in 20 gauge, a Winchester 1300 Ranger in 20 gauge with the youth stock, and a Winchester 1300 12 gauge.) The store just got a new Sporting Goods manager, who performed a proper inventory. They found these 3 guns mixed in with their stock, and they had apparently missed markdowns. I got all 3 for $25 more than the cost of the Kel-Tec, and all 3 of them had nicer wood than their counterparts remaining in the case. I sold the Mossberg, and got a Marlin 60SS with that money, and I sold the Winchester 20 gauge, and that money is funding 50% of a Springfield Loaded 1911. The Winchester 1300 is a nice gun, and I'm keeping it.

So to recap, I turned a Kel-Tec P11 into a Winchester 1300 12 gauge, a Marlin 60SS, and half of a Loaded 1911.

Back in the mid-80's during my 'shred' phase, I traded a 60's-era Harmony hollow-body with a sweet, fat tone for a Kramer Stryker - basically because it had a whammy bar.

I really miss that guitar.

Earlier this year I traded a used Glock 23 w/ night sights, holster, and 3 mags
For a darn near NIB Sig P228 w/ night sights, holster, 5 mags, and 3500rnds of 9mm FMJ (american eagle). It was my best trade to date.

traded a '73 Porsche 914 thatwasn't running for a Luger and cash...

I think I got the better end of the deal, but we both walked away happy.

I just had to have a stainless Ruger Redhawk with a Leupold scope. This was when the Redhawks first came out and about the time Indiana passed a law allowing deer hunting with handguns. (No rifles.)

Kiesler's in Clarksville had just such a gun. So I took in my mint Browning B-78rifle to talk trade. I knew I'd have to kick in a couple hundred but was antsy to get the Ruger.

There were two salespeople there: the manager and a salesman. I was talking to the manager when the salesman looked at my rifle.

Another customer walked in. The salesman set my rifle down to wait on the other customer. I continue talking to the manager, trying to strengthen my trading position. But I hadn't mentioned the Ruger, yet. I was just snowing him about the Browning.

Meanwhile, the other customer was ready to buy something. The salesman took his money and opened the cash register. Next thing I knew, "boom!" My rifle sailed across the room. My rifle had been leaning against the register.

The salesman ran over and picked it up. He said, "It's ok. It's ok. I don't see any damage."

I said, "Look at the forearm." Sure enough, there was a huge gash in the wood.

The manager didn't even look up. He just said, "What do you want?"

I got the stainless Ruger Redhawk with a 2x Leupold silver scope. Even trade.

Killed my first deer with it, too. Also my last deer.

:D ;)

One good trade was with a guy that was just dying to get a Makarov. I traded him one that I picked up at a gun show for $75, and got a NIB Bulgarian milled receiver SA93 AK 47.
oh, and a box of mags, and 300 rounds of NORINCO AP.

Back when the assault weapons ban first went into effect, I had an AK-47 that I had paid about $250 for a year or so earlier. Prices on that type of weapon went absolutely nuts, I ended up trading my used AK-47 that I paid around $250 for even up for a brand new Browning Stainless Stalker in .30-06. I didn't like the AK because it just wasn't accurate at all (4 inch groups at 100 yards). The Browning Stainless Stalker in .30-06 consistently places three rounds touching at 100 yards with a variety of ammo.
