I would say an 8-3/8 S&W 629 .But I havent tried the new S&W 500 Yet.

It's a tie between a $&W 25-5 4", and an Old Model Ruger Blackhawk with a 7.5" barrel.

I tend to gravatate to guns in 45 long colt
I have quite a few in this caliber. my favorite for std loads is a tossup between my 25-5 8 3/8" S&W and my navy arms schofield.
For the high pressure loads again its a tossup between my custom 45 blackhawk and my bisley vaquero convertable. Of course there are also the 3 vaquero's and then the colt SAA clones, of course the custom bisley bulldog is a fun gun too! I guess I have more like a favorite bigbore caliber than a particular gun If its 45 caliber it cool by me!

I have a .44 magnum S&W 629 Classic with 5-inch barrel that I like very much. The gun has the excellent trigger you expect from N-frame Smiths, and the 5-inch barrel length is a nice compromise between the somewhat unwieldy 6-inch barrel and the "too short for the caliber" 4-inch barrel.

Favorite? Well, I really enjoyed shooting the Ruger 454 casull (maybe I'm a wee bi sadistic). But if I were to pick one to own, I'd probably go w/ the 625.

I haven't shot too many big bore handguns. Defining big bore as any caliber larger than 357mag, here is the list:
Taurus Raging Bull 6" bbl 45Colt
S&W Mod 629 8" bbl 44Mag
1911A1 style gun in 45ACP (can't remember the brand)
My fav is the RB. It's just soooo much fun to shoot and accurate as well. Bowling pins are not safe at 100yds. It's a fine big bore plinker. The 629 was just too long. I liked the 1911, but prefer the RB overall.

definitely my new ruger srh. i'm can't shoot it very much at one time, but i burst out laughing every time i pull the trigger!
it's like driving a huge muscle car. not terribly discreet or cheap to use, but loads of fun!

4&5/8" Vaquero in .44 mag. Perfect for a walk in the woods with full house loads or just plinking with specials.

Favorite Big Bore?
I have to many Big Bore Handguns to narrow it down to just one. I have a lot of 45's and a whole bunch of 44's and I like them all. Well if pushed against a wall I'd have to say that 1 of my favorites is a 1955 Target Model 45acp revolver, love those big bullets in those moon clips.

I really like my 5 shot Taurus Tracker w/ 4" barrel in 45 Colt. Nice light weight gun with a huge slug 255 gr LSWC going down range. My Sistema Colt 1911 is nice too but I have not shot it yet.

I'll weigh in with the other .44 mag people here .... Super Blackhawk. BUT ... with ''useful'' homeloads ... not them ''pussy'' factory deals!!

I've onlygot one big bore right now,a 625-6 45 colt mountain gun so it wins by defaut.
