Well, I am wondering what flashlights you all carry. I carry an original SF 6P,
a SF E1L and a Coast LED Lenser V2, which I just bought yesterday. I like them all. I've had the 6P for about six years and have used it extensively for choirs, and to get out of a jamb once in San Francisco. The E1L was purchased for xmas last week because I have needed a smaller, lighter light for daily carry during work hours as I have to wear a suit. The 6P had long been relegated to weekend duty and I wanted to get back into the habit of carrying 24/7. The Coast LED Lenser V2 was an impulse purchase at Costco, bought mainly to get a good light that takes something other than CR123 batteries. So, what do you carry and what is the story behind same?

I carried a Maglite Solitaire for years, but the battery life was a bit lacking, as was brightness. Switched to a Photon II Microlight LED that I carried for some more years. Last few days I've been carrying this. I like it a bit better than the photon because of the white light and the more conventional flashlight design. It is quite a bit bigger than the photon, and I'll have to see how it holds up to use. So far I like it a lot.

There's a large maglite in the car--6D. I'll probably be upgrading it to an LED bulb like this one. It's brighter than the standard bulb and offers improved battery life and longer bulb life. 'Tis a bit on the pricey side though...

A 3-cell Maglite and a Streamlight Scorpion in each vehicle (truck, SUV, car); alternate carrying a Surefire Z2 and a Streamlight NF-2 ... I like having a big, heavy duty light available in my vehicles, but sometimes only a small, powerful light is needed (it's really, really dark at night around here, and we live in the woods) ... Once you've really, really needed flashlights and haven't had any available ... you tend to go a little overboard on the gear ...

Got the SF Combatlight as a gift, it's nice, but before that I'd picked up the Streamlight NF-2, which is pretty similar. Not onboard with LED lights yet ...

A Surefire G-2 most of the time but I just picked up a Dorcy L.E.D. Metal Gear Light. It's starting to get carried more and more. It is a pretty good light but my Surefire was my first, so I'll continue to carry until I can get money together for a G2Z or a Z2.

I have carried the same Mini-Maglite for almost 20 years. It has been in my toolbox, in my fanny pack, on trail rides on my dirt bike. I think I have put four bulbs in it and I don't know how many batteries. I paid $12 for it and the other day Wal-Mart had them for $8.

I recently upgraded to the LED bulb from these guys:
NiteIze
It is brighter and should last longer but you cannot focus the light because the bulb is fixed. I may add the push button to it or just spend the $$ on a Surefire....maybe when they have more choices in LED technology.

I also have the 3D Maglite in the truck.

I forgot to add that I have one of those also. It was my first LED flashlight and is a fairly good light for the price. What is weird is that when the battery starts to run down it seems like the button is going bad and would work intermittantly. It's not, when I replaced the battery the light functioned fine. The LED must be sensitive to voltage loss.

I've got way too many lights at home, but here's what I carry daily.

Streamlight TL-2 Xenon
Solitaire with 33Mcd LED mod
River Rock 2xAAA ($10 at Target, 1/2 watt LED)
Plus I have various photon clones and mini (3mm LED) clones on jacket pulls.

I have a Pelican M6. Nice LED light and they advertise 40 hour battery life. I am jonesing for a Surefire Aviator though, but a $185 its hard to justify.

That's what I carry. I bought mine used off of a friend and I just love it. The price is tough, but it's a great light.

I use my Surefire G2 as mostly a defensive tool rather that utility light.

I upgraded to the 120 lumen bulb assembly with the idea of getting twice the blinding light as the standard 60 lumen G2 model. Even in a house in daylight this G2 will cast a blinding light into the eyes of a potential attacker. In the dark or low light, it is impossible to look right at it. Could buy escape time by blasting perp's eyes with it.

These very intense lights have been used to fend off animal attacks also. Check some of the user stories at the SureFire website.

The Surefire E2E is also a good choice for both blinding light ( 60 lumens) or for short term utility use.

I carry a Surefire E1E in my pocket all the time for general use. It's plenty of light for most applications and it is very handy.

Don't carry this one all the time, but if I'm out at night I'll generally have a G2 with P61 120 lumen bulb in a nylon belt holster. That sucker is bright, but burns through batteries so I don't use it for general use.

+1 for the Surefire E2e.

At work I like the Innova X5 better, the softer light is good for looking thru sight glasses and such, and the batteries last forever compared to the Surefire.

Arc AAA always around the neck, G2 around the neck at work, 3c mag always in the truck.

Surefire E2 Defender. It's very small and light and I can use it to inflict pain if needed.

Old Surefire 6P and Gerber infinity AA task light.

Like the Mini-Mag, carried one for years.

The Surefire E2e I just bought after basic has become my every day carry. Clipped in my left jeans pockets it's very handy and hardly noticeable. It gets used almost every day for reading off serial numbers and looking in dark corners of the arms room. I also carry a Photon Microlight on my keychain as a back up.

Back in the States, when I had a car, I always kept a 3D Maglite in my driver's door. I usually keep another D-cell Maglite in my room and an assortment of smaller Maglites stashed in backpacks, coat pockets, and desk drawers.
