What was the best GUN present/surprise you ever got?

I've changed my mind again. The best surprise was Christmas of 1955 when my grandparents gave me a Daisy BB rifle outfit that came with a wire wall rack and cleaning kit in a red metal box that fit on the bottom of the rack.

I was too little to cock the gun, but I soon grew into it.

I was in a local store and fondled a Rossi 92 in 44Mag with my wife's cousin. 2 or 3 weeks later the same guy bought 6 or 7 firearms in a private sale. When I went to his house to check them out, he handed me an older production 92 and told me to enjoy it. He warned me that something was wrong with the action and it wouldn't feed ammo. It took a few tries, but I finally got it all clean up inside. I still need to put some better sights on it, but it's a joy to shoot.

When my Grandfather died he left his collection to my Father and i his only child and grandchild.my father was never one for firearms or hunting but kept the legality up for me to have for my child. The "legality" part was because of the class 3 firearms. 13 total but only 9 registered, i guess gramps did'nt want them to know exactly what all he had. Funny old man. My favorite one is are Thompson 1921/28 Navy overstamp, nothing i can say can explain my fondness and connection to this weapon. My all time number 1.

SIXTY years ago this coming Christmas, I received (from my dad) a Winchester Model 67! I was one PROUD lil guy. STILL have it!

a 1926 Officers Model Colt .38, from my FIL as a wedding gift...I had admired how nice it was..then it was mine...45 years ago...still have the both, his daughter and his Colt.

For my 10th Christmas, my Dad got me a Marlin 81DL. I still have it. I still shoot it. Every time I do, I think of my Dad!:D

I recently recieved a S&W Highway Patrolman. I believe it's about a 1955/6 manufacture. It's in beautiful condition, Just had a tiny bit of rust on the end of the barrel from sitting in a holster for years. It polished right off.
It was a gift from a good friend. He lives in a trailer and was worried about it being stolen.
I'd been trying to buy it for about a year, when one morning he came to breakfast at the local restraunt and set a plastic grocery bag on the table. I could see it was full of ammo so I thought he was giving me some old stuff he no longer needed. To my surprise, I looked in the bag and saw the Smith sitting on top of about 250 rounds of 357 ammo (mostly wad cutters and semi wadcutters). I asked if he wanted to go shooting and he replied no, I'm giving it all to you.
That was a pretty good day.

My AR was a great present but the best suprise was last week. I told my husband I wanted a smaller carry gun and I had read good reviews on the Ruger LCP. He got one without me finding out and brought it to me with a box of my favorite defensive rounds! No reason, no special holidays or anything but just because I wanted it. And my new flash bang holster is on the way too!

2 things...

1. My mother gave me an RCBS "Jr." reloading press when I was 15 years old. It is still in my reloading shop and I use it for seating rifle bullets. It got me where I am today... the mfg date on that press is 1969.... :)

2. My wife gave me an H&K USP Compact in 9mm. That was a thoughtful gift....

Received an Ithaca 37 12 ga for a birthday gift from my parents and a Mosin Nagant from my father in law for a "just because" gift. Love em both.

My wife's cousin gave me me an LC Smith 16 gauge side by side the Christmas before last. Totally out of the blue.

He came to own all of his dad's guns, and his childhood experiences have resulted in shotguns = cold and wet to him. My brother-in-law got a Winchester Model 12 at the same time

Regards,
Tom
