I recently recieved a S&W Highway Patrolman. I believe it's about a 1955/6 manufacture. It's in beautiful condition, Just had a tiny bit of rust on the end of the barrel from sitting in a holster for years. It polished right off.
It was a gift from a good friend. He lives in a trailer and was worried about it being stolen.
I'd been trying to buy it for about a year, when one morning he came to breakfast at the local restraunt and set a plastic grocery bag on the table. I could see it was full of ammo so I thought he was giving me some old stuff he no longer needed. To my surprise, I looked in the bag and saw the Smith sitting on top of about 250 rounds of 357 ammo (mostly wad cutters and semi wadcutters). I asked if he wanted to go shooting and he replied no, I'm giving it all to you.
That was a pretty good day.
