What was your first handgun?

Dad bought me a Ruger Mk 2 when I was 17... though I guess it didn't become officially "mine" until i turned 21. Still have it, still shoot it.

My first was a Ruger New Model Single Six with a 6 1/2 inch barrel. What a great target gun and plinker it was. I've sold a few guns in my time but it is the one gun sale that I regret to this day. I could always buy another I suppose, but (sniff sniff) it just wouldn't be the same.

My first gun was a Sig P225 that I bought on my 21st birthday in 1988. I don't own it anymore as I traded it a couple years later for a P226. Great guns!

I bought a Glock 26 very soon after my 21st b-day. I sold it about 4 years later. I'll probably get another one someday.

My first (and so far only) was the Ruger 22/45 KP-4 I bought in February. The next one isn't too far down the road though, and I'm currently struggling with a decision between a Ruger KP-944 and an H&K USP Compact .40.

My first handgun was a Kimber stainless pro carry II. I was eighteen and my mom had to go in and sign paperwork on it because I could not legally purchase it myself. I have probably 6000 rounds through it and still use it for competition and soon to be a carry gun. I own two kimbers, and two rugers now and have plans for many many more.:D

I just purchased my first handgun about a month ago- a new Ruger P94 9mm. Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to take her out to the range, so she's only got about 200 rounds through her at the moment. Hopefully I'll be changing that soon, with the end of the semester looming.

Mine was a NRM Colt Government in Blue. Series 80. Late 21st birthday present to myself.

Though I must admit, it doesn't get shot as much after my Kimber Series I Classic Royal came in. But regardless, I am still happy my first gun was a Colt. :)

Sig-Sauer P228, 9mm.
Still have it.
Still the best grip I have ever felt on any gun - ever.
SOooooooooooo comfortable, like putting on socks from the dryer.

Shoots sweet, too.

I tend not to carry it as much now as I have stepped up to larger calibers
>;)

Like the 'Ten.

My first was (shudder!) a Gecado .22 Short revolver (a clone of the infamous RG revolver :barf: ). My not-into-handguns Dad gave it to me when I was 18, on the grounds that I needed "something for self-protection". I did the decent thing, and did NOT sell it to anyone else - I didn't want to be responsible for their demise if they actually relied on it to stop anything! When I immigrated to the USA, I had to leave my gun collection behind (the ATF were very unsympathetic when I asked about bringing it with me), so I arranged to dispose of it where it would never again see the light of day!

6" Ruger standard auto, circa 1959, when I was 16. Bought it for cash in the adjoining state and took it home. Shot it for three years, then sold it to raise money to buy a decent 1882-vintage Colt SAA for all of $84. (Still have that one!)

Eventually replaced that old Ruger with a 4 3/4" one that is still a lot of fun, and have given similar ones to various members of the family for plinkers.

Back in those days anyone with more than two handguns was considered to be quite the pistolero.

It was either an AMT Longslide .45ACP, or a Colt King Cobra .357.
I can't remember which one I bought first. I no longer have them.

I was 29 or 30 at the time.

The Longslide was a good, reliable pistol. It must have slipped out of the factory by mistake, because the other AMTs that I've owned were jam-o-matics.

Wished I still had the first pistol issued to me-1911A1 with a brand new chrome plated barrel and a semi fitted bushing. Minor problem of it belonging to the government.....

First pistol I bought was a pre-Series 80 Combat Commander with a satin nickel finish. Nice shooter, traded it for a Nickel Plated Government model Series 70. Pretty, but the only Colt I have ever owned which stopped up on ball ammo.

Traded it for a Blues Series 80 which I still have, and will not let go until it does. Over 120K rounds later on all original parts except the springs and grip, I think its going to win:scrutiny:

I actually paid for my frst firearm, a Taurus 85 - .38 special, for my girl friend at the time in '92. However, my first firearm was a Glock 19.

My first handgun was a Glock 17. Could not shoot it to save my life. Always shot a foot low. Changed the sites and still shot very low. Traded it in on a Berreta 92 ( this was back in the days of the wonder nine's). It was the Berreta that I really learned how to shoot with.

I have since gone back to Glocks and currently own a 23. I had realized it was me that was the problem, not the Glock. Live and learn as they say.

Walther PPK/S made by Interarms in 380acp. Still have it. Bought it 5 years ago. Rather accurate, easy to carry.

Now I'm a revolver guy in that I find them more interesting and I use a revolver more often. Who'd have thunk it.
