What was your first handgun?

The first handgun I bought was an absolutely mint 60s vintage S&W Model 19 .357 with the original blue box. Man, I was proud of that gun. I later sold it. :(

A Browning Challenger .22lr semi-auto pistol. It was given to me new and I still have it. It has thousands of rounds through it and still preforms very well.

F.I.E. Titan Tigar .38 special - blue - 4in barrel. (This one made in U.S.)

Bought it new when I was 21 or 22.

The funny thing is that it has been my HD gun all these years - and remains so. I have planned to "replace it" several times with a semi-auto (like with my Vertec 9mm) but I seem to never get around to making the switch.

Seems to just "feel right". - Maybe I just got used to it.

My first handgun was my uncles S&W Model 15. He passed away and left it to me. I was honored as it was his duty pistol that he was issued in the late 1960s when he started working for the local police department.

The gun is in awesome shape. Rating easily at 98%. I doubt my uncle ever had to take it out of the holster. I used to take it to the range every once in a while. The S&W factory range was having one of those bring your S&W in and we'll clean it for you events, so I brought the Model 15 for them to look at. The guy doing the work took one look at it and said that if it was his, he wouldn't be firing it very often seeing how good a shape it was in. Since then it's had the honor position in my safe. I take it out from time to time to clean it up. I hear it begging to go to the range soon. I think I'll have to oblige it soon!

The picture isn't that good. The holster was also issued to him way back when.

Is it dating myself to say that my first handgun was a SW1911? :p

Actually, I bought the SW1911 and a Walther P22 at the same time, but I asked for the SW1911 first, so I say it's my first handgun. :)

I don't have them right now, I sold them both to my dad for a couple of reasons, but I should be getting them back in a couple of months.

SIG P229 in 9mm. Bought it 6 years ago & still have it. I had it refinshed and customized by Arizona Response Systems with the Metacol III finish.

Even as gun newbie, I knew the SIG blued finish was not that good. It's a great shooter now.

.38 S&W S&W lemon Squeezer . I was 15 . Interesting story is I found it in a field , and it was probably hot . It didn't realy faze me when it was stolen a few months later .

My 1st Handgun was a Taurus given to me by my Grandma when I graduated high school. I couldn't actually transfer into my name until I was 21 of course. I still have it. The 1st handgun I ever bought was a Smith 686 with a 4" barrel. I sold it to a guy who offered me as much money as I spent on it brand new.

My first one was a 9.5" 44 SRH. I had been shooting revolvers for years, but dad said if I wanted one, my name went on the 4473, not his. So when I turned 21, I went out and bought it.

Still have it, won't ever sell it. But since then, it's had a couple dozen friends show up.

629 classic. Still have it and can still shoot it very well. it was all I had for 2 years and I pumped a lot of rounds through it.

H&R 22

my first pistol ever was a H&R 22 cal. revolver. My first self-defence pistol was and is a SIG P225 9mm.

First gun was a H&K USP40 compact. Bought it almost 3 years ago. I've put several thousand rounds through it and it still runs 110%.

At the time, I was looking for a self-defense sidearm and knew I wanted to get a .40. Out of all the .40s I tried at the range, the USP was the one I liked best. :D

My first handgun was a Beretta 92fs. That was in 1992. I sold it a few years later to help finance my marriage. I miss it sometimes. I never had any friends that were in to guns, so I had to go it on my own. I guess my role model was mel gibson's charachter in " letal weapon", I thought that was pretty cool. Funny thing was , since I was pre-novice on everything handguns ( shottys were much more familiar), I was concerned about getting a 9mm because they were -really powerful-, yeah, I was a knob, I was considering a .380 just to go with something "less powerful".
Glad I went with the Beretta. I shot about 1700 rounds thru it and it never failed me once. It spoiled me. If I ever owned a gun that didn't give me the kind of reliability I expect, then it gets sold...........
