Hi...
Not much into celebrating New Year's Eve, as I have rowdied on down in my later years.
Went to bed around 10:30PM... didn't miss a thing.
Belong to two gun clubs...my son and I went shooting at both of them this morning. Shot all manner of handguns along with a couple of .22LR carbines.
We chronographed a bunch of handloads in a variety of calibers and handguns. Shot some paper targets for accuracy and some steel plates for fun.

Several hundred rounds downrange today.
Happy New Year's Day!!!

I have been known to shoot a round of clays on new year's day .

I wish there was a good place to meet with some thr friends for a round!View attachment 880945
I have also bee. Thinking of this as a noisemaker toy for special occasions....

I'm thinking that it would be a great way to get rid of old pyrodex and BP that people give me from time to time.

As I live in southwestern Ill-ANNOY and I'm originally from near Marion, I'd love to join you. The only range in this area is a private club that charges over $350/yr. and requires some "sweat-equity".

I thought this was disproved. Waste of ammo for sure, but I thought I read that the reality of it, was no physical damage is done.

Like a small stone falling. But to hit all those cars? Seems like an improbability. And to actually cause damage to a roof??

I don't advocate it btw.

One of the St. Louis TV news stations just ran a story of a 61 yo woman setting off fireworks with her family in their front yard. A descending bullet hit her in the neck and killed her.

I hope you are kidding. In the last few years, Two people in Houston have been killed by falling bullets on NYE, with a couple more seriously injured. A co-worker had their windshield shattered.

A bullet falling only under the acceleration of gravity can still be lethal. There are two important differences between a falling stone and a falling bullet: density and drag coefficient. The density of lead is 11.3 g/cc vs. about 2.7 g/cc for a typical stone.

My dog, a very intelligent Border Jack, loves popping bubble pack.
When the noises started during the 4th of July I just told him that it was just big bubble pack.
He settled right down.
My dog is a 10yo brittany bird dog. She will creep in on my shooting sessions and try to get as close to the action as possible. She is the opposite of gunshy. The poor thing expects a dead quail to fall with every shot.

My new year's day didnt go quite as I had planned but I did manage to get out back and shoot 25rds through my lcp. I try to keep in practice with it.
