What would you ask a gun mfgr to build?

My one ever abiding wish is for Ruger to bring back (and maybe add some different variations like 5 shot versions in .44 Special, .45 ACP, and .45 Colt), the Security/Service/Speed Six revolvers line.

I was really hoping for someone, preferably in Germany, to bring out a P08 Luger to recognize the centennial of the gun's adoption by the German Army. 2008 came and 2008 went: No Luger. Considering what a Luger is decent shape costs these days, I would pay a fair price for a new one.

I always think it would be cool if someone made the Luger P-08 again but from what I've read, it is a complicated gun and almost impossible to make cheaply...

The Mitchell Arms P-08 was a nice gun, as were the Krausewerk guns.

Gun Review: Mitchell Arms P-08 9mm Parabellum: ‘Why aren’t they selling?’

I certainly would like to see the P-08 recreated but I'd much rather see someone recreate the 6" P-04 and the 8" P-17 Artillerie. The P-04 seems more balanced, and the P-17 is just fun. The toggle-action creates a much different shooting experience from anything else. They were truly marvelous guns.

I'd like for Glock to make a .45 acp that's closer to the G19/23 in size, without using the mag extension for part of the grip. I realize that I could get an XDm in the 3.8" Compact in .45, but then I'd need all new holsters . . . .

All ready asked S&W to build a model 29 fully machine engraved last year. How long does it take to build one? Still waiting!

No offense but how many times are you going to post this? This is like the forth or fifth time I've seen this.

Call S&W

Two guns.

First, I'd like to see an inexpensive, lightweight, small .22lr SAO polymer-framed pistol. Not a mouse gun and not large, like a Mark II, but about the size of a good .380acp. Flawlessly reliable, cock and lock design safety and an easy safety released by a quick downsweep of the thumb. I'd like to see it chamber ten rounds with optional extended mags.

Next gun, a true MEDIUM-frame .357 revolver weighing in around 30 ounces with a 4-inch barrel that would accommodate installable weights. That way, a person need not haul a 44-ounce revolver around while hiking, camping or hunting. The gun also should be ultra-durable, impervious to weather and attractive with or without weights.

Apart from S&W making revolvers without their ludicrously ill-designed lock, I'd like to see Colt make modern swing-out cylinder revolvers, in particular a modernized version of the Colt Official Police chambered for a modernized version of the .41 Colt cartridge.

A laser in the 40 watt range.

Seriously, The Governor, but in .45 ACP only, with a correspondingly short cylinder. The 25-series cylinder is longer than it needs to be.

I'd like for Colt to build a Python that looked like the old ones but with modern lockwork that wouldn't go out of time. Oh yeah, and same for the Diamondback, especially in .22LR!

MORE .44 Spl medium frame revolvers. And no aluminum/titanium/unobtanium alloy junk.......just high grade steel.

A bolt-action .44Mag/Spc. (maybe .45 Colt) with a 16.1" barrel, threaded, and with a twist rate just right for 300+ grain bullets. Yes, just like a Ruger 77/357 but shorter, lighter, and set up well for sub-sonic stuff.

Doubt I'd go buy one, and have no need for one, but I think it would be cool.

Having seen a pal's suppressed 77/357 going "click...Ding!" at the range, I'd like one that went "click...CLANG!"

That would be the .41 Magnum, right?
If I'm not mistaken, isn't the actual .41 Magnum too big for the Official Police/M&P frame? I'm looking for something usable in those frame sizes.

I'm not interested in a magnum power cartridge, rather something of modest velocity with about a 200gr. dead soft lead hollowpoint.

A three inch S&W 69 with fixed night sites would be cool.

VP45, and VP9SK would be good. New P7's would be cool too.

XDm carbine.

"in particular a modernized version of the Colt Official Police chambered for a modernized version of the .41 Colt cartridge."

They tried that about 90 years ago. Between the wars Colt developed the .41 Colt Special. The article at http://milpas.cc/rifles/ZFiles/Pist...olver/Experimental, New Service Revolver.html
shows prototype New Service .41 Specials, but I have read elsewhere that they meant to offer it in the Official Police with a heavy loading in a longer case to be accommodated only by the New Service.

Guns and ammo are too valuable to dissect; it would be interesting to know if they modernized the design away from the .41 Long Colt's original heel bullet or later hollow base bullet, and what bullet/barrel diameter they ended up with. The cartridges shown in the article are obviously inside lubricated with the typical Colt Special flatpointed bullet. But are they hollow based for a .40" barrel or conventional for a .386" barrel?

They did that, too. I once saw a Mk III Python and there have been a couple posted here.

I bought myself the Collector Grade book on the New Service for Christmas. There are pictures of the .41 New Services in it. They were intended to fill the same role as the .41 Magnum, and were chambered for a lengthened .41 Colt.

The site I found says the .41 Colt Special load was a 210 at 900 fps. About like the .41 Rem Mag "police load" and no doubt a useful round.

Another piece I recall but cannot relocate, said that there were to be three loads, light and medium for a hypothetical Official Police .41 Special, long and heavy for New Service only.
