What would you ask a gun mfgr to build?

This is one of those dream-big threads, so here goes:

(I know some of these have already been mentioned, but I'd want them, too)

Luger P-08 in original configuration and with a double-stack magazine.

S&W Schofield in .38 special/.357 magnum

Mauser C96

Remington 7400 (or similar) in .223 built to take AR15/M16 magazines and .308 built to take M14 or FAL magazines.

MP-40 Pistol (with the ability to have the original-style folding stock added with a tax stamp).

Modernized Walther P-38 with double-stack magazine, frame-mounted safety and improved firing-pin block.

Since dreaming big how about the original-style folding stock added without a tax stamp. :)

I want S&W to bring back the Night Guard revolver line without the internal lock.

I'm with 2ndamendmentnut on this. I'd pick up a 325 and 396NG quick.

I'd like to see a mass produced Beretta 92-series pistol with a frame mounted safety, like the "Beretta Stock" which is seldom seen on these shores. Preferably with the 92 Elite or Elite II upgrades. (I've seen enough problematic Taurus PT-92s to not want one of those as an alternative.)

S&W revolvers without The <expletive> Lock.

Ruger Redhawk "+P" . . . same as regular Redhawk, except with the improved metallurgy Ruger put into its .454 Casull Super Redhawks.

And though this isn't a rifle thread, I'd like to see a heavy game rifle with a pop-up peep sight in the rear of the receiver like some of the BRNO ZKK bolt action rifles had a few decades back.
What sort of problems? I have a 99 and 92 that have had none. Feeding problems are usually the fault of the magazine (which can be fixed or replaced easily enough) or feed ramp condition (which can also be fixed). I will grant you that a decent gun should function well right out of the box, but if you want a Beretta 92 with frame-mounted safety, "fixing" a Taurus 92 would be easier that "fixing" a Beretta.

If I were to carry a full-size 9mm to a self-defense situation, I would be well-equipped with the Taurus.

I'd like Glock to make their Gen 3 and Gen 4 pistols without the finger grooves / humps.

There are several on my wishlist, simply for my admiration of the (now-gone) gun.

  • Smith and Wesson to resume/update their 3rd Gen lineup of metal framed pistols
  • Someone to clone the Star 30M and other Star pistols; come on Turkey, you know your manufacturers can do it
  • Radom to re-release the Vis 35; in fact it would be nice to get any/all "model 1935" pistols (the French ones as well as the Beretta and HP), chambered for available cartridges
You might notice a trend; steel-framed service sidearms, single stack for the most part. Just good, solidly made pistols.

For Ruger to bring back the Old Army, but also to make a .36 cap and ball on the Single Six frame and call it the "Old Navy."

I'd like many of the current pistols to be offered without that stupid rail!! Keep those lines clean and smooth.

+1

I'm never going to put a light or a laser on a handgun, so the rail is just an unesthetic waste for me.

A updated C96 in 10mm, 9x23, with detachable mags. An affordable 45 ACP carbine that isn't a Hi Point. A 1911 slide machined for micro red dot sights.

I want ruger to make that 44 mag deerfield with a scaled up 10/ 22 banana mag. Offer it in stainless, offer it in 357 as well.

I also want all marlin lever guns to be high quality, but specifically I want a nice stainless 1894 in 357, and I want it offered with laminated stocks.

And I want Boyds to make stocks for marli. 1894s and 336's.

I would like a schofield top break in 45acp with moon clips. 6" barrel. And blued like an old school s&w

I'd be all over that! Always wanted a Schoefield, and a .45 ACP revolver. Two birds, one revolver!

I just read every post in this thread,,,

I just read every post in this thread,,,
I wonder if the gun manufacturers read these forums.

If they do there are some way out there suggestions,,,
But some very sensible/marketable ones as well.

My original want still holds,,,
A 6" .22 revolver made by CZ.

A new S&W Model 17 goes for about $750.oo these days,,,
I would easily pay that much for a CZ made revolver in that configuration.

But hey, maybe someone out there will read this thread and be inspired.

I'd like Ruger to bring back the Police Carbines, I'd like to have either one of those PC9's or a Marlin Camp Carbine 9, but upgraded, updated, and modernized, but with the option of still using old generation mags (P-series for the Ruger, S&W 59 series for the Marlin)

My wish would be for a top-break (like the Schofield) revolver strong enough for .357 magnum.

That would be very cool. I'm fascinated by old Webley revolvers and the way they operate. Imagine a Webley in .357 that you could load with moon clips. With the auto-eject feature that would be a fast-handling, powerful gun.

I also want a semiauto carbine in .357 magnum. Imagine something like the Mossberg 930 SPX, scaled down:

It would have a tube magazine because I don't like fiddling with detachable mags, and adjustable peep sights. While we're dreaming, let's add some kind of adjustable gas system so it can shoot .38 specials too. I don't think it would be a big engineering challenge because revolver rounds are long rimmed cylinders just like shotgun shells.

357 and 44 Magnum Ruger Camp Carbines - Bring em back Ruger.
357 Magnum Ruger Redhawk - C'mon Ruger make another run of these
7.62x25 Tokarev Glock - I'd buy one
Any 10mm revolver single and double action
Anything in 9x23 Winchester - A Glock or CZ75 would be nice.
Keltec Sub 2000 - I know they exist but do they? A 10mm version would be sic.
500 SW Magnum Marlin or Rossi levergun - There are custom examples available, but they're very expensive.
17HMR semi auto handgun - Sounds like a good idea

A steel framed 5" striker fired 9mm with Bomar sights and a bull barrel. Would make for a great competition gun.

A .25 caliber handgun round (and a gun to shoot it) of roughly .38 Super length - rimless and straight-walled. With that much more case capacity you should be able to push that bullet pretty fast, and with the small diameter you could probably fit 25-26 rounds in a standard sized handgun grip.

I'd like a 3" adjustable sighted J frame with 6 shots in ,32 magnum.

I'd like a high quality double stack (at least 13 rounds) semi-auto that comes from the factory in 460 Rowland or something similar. I also would like the pistol to be designed from the ground up for the caliber.
