What would you ask a gun mfgr to build?

Another piece I recall but cannot relocate, said that there were to be three loads, light and medium for a hypothetical Official Police .41 Special, long and heavy for New Service only.
There are pictures of the various versions of the .41 Special and the New Services in the Collector Grade book on the New Service.

I want North American Arms to make the top break Rangers again. Sell them for $500, I don't care, they'd be worth that price.

They are! spring 2016

I would like to see Ruger factory build Franken-ruger guns...or any manufacturer for that matter build a "medium" power (modern, I guess .357 up to 44 mag or 45 colt) revolver built to smack targets at ranges over 25 yards. There are match grade guns of every other type available, but very few if any truly accurate wheelguns on the market now. I'm not talking about an adjustable sight, nor am I talking about the "hunter" blackhawks built for a scope...rifle accuracy from a revolver.

* Beretta 92/M9 type with a frame mounted safety. Like the 92 FS Centennial, except for people with normal budgets.

* Remington 870 in .410 with interchangeable chokes.

* Remington M870 with the barrel band/bayonet lug.

A 41 spl or a 40 SW rimmed seems like a good choice for a K framed sized 5 shot shooter in size and weight similar to a CA bulldog but done better like a Ruger.

December 2015 – Ranger II On Track
December 1, 2015 by admin
While we have very little new to report, I though some might appreciate an update regarding the anticipated introduction of Ranger II.

As I indicted in last month’s timeline, we are expecting very shortly (within the next week) to receive “final” preproduction samples of some critical components. Some small tweaks may yet be required, but we’re hoping to release purchase orders for all outside parts before the end of the month. If that’s the case, full production could begin as soon as February. I expect we’ll have a couple of samples in our pockets at SHOT next month in Las Vegas that we will show to interested parties, but would expect that our Grand Introduction will occur at the NRA Show in Louisville in mid-May, by which point we expect there will be a good quantity available on the dealers’ shelves.

I'd like a large-framed semi-auto with the trigger of a 1911 combined with the slide-in-frame arrangement of a CZ or Tanfo.

Ok, Let's play
Ruger Mark III 5.5 slab barrel SSteel
P08 Luger
STG 44 (semi) Kurtz /223 or any, but 22cal.
CZ/Dan Wesson 22cal.
As someone wrote Remy 870 in 410

I will elaborate a little more later.

I saw one built by Jim Boland in a gunzine feature article once. I can't imagine the cost now.

A CZ can be given an amazing trigger pull, the pivoting trigger is not as much of a handicap as you might think.
The inside slide rails are not as much an advantage as you might think, either.

Hi, Jim Watson,

Was the .267 Remington that late? I thought it was to give Remington a "bigger and better" proprietary round to replace the .25 Stevens in their rolling blocks, which were discontinued in 1933 (per "the books").

Jim

I would like Ruger (or any else) make a pistol round carbine in 9MM,.40 S&W and 45 ACP
that did not take a magazine but a tube mag ala the old Ruger carbine.
No magazines to load or lose just a pocket full of shells

I'd love for anyone to bring out a 2" or (even better) 3" .45LC on a medium frame. 5 rounds of .45LC in a carryable package would be a terrific CCW/HD gun. Taurus had one for a while in the wonderful 450 which they discontinued for the Judge. S&W did very similar with the .44spl with the steel 696 and alloy 296 and 396. The Charter Arms Bulldog may need to be slightly upsized but it is a similar concept. It can certainly be done.

Looking at how excited people on the Taurus forum get when someone finds a 450 I can't be the only one who wants one. While the .44spl guns fill a similar niche, there are quite a few people out there who own and love handguns in .45lc and may not want to add an other caliber to the collection. There are certainly many who love the venerable cartridge, and would like a smaller gun than an N-frame. I'm quite sure there would be a market.

Hello Chaim,,,

The Charter Arms Bulldog may need to be slightly upsized but it is a similar concept.

What would one call it,,,
The Mastiff.

Personally I think my CA Bulldog already hits like the Hammer of Thor,,,
But a bulldog sized revolver in .45 Colt would appeal to many,,,
Who's to say that Thor only had one caliber hammer. ;)

Aarond,
As written near the top the Ruger P series is DA/SA and the P345 is somewhat smaller than older P series pistols. For me mine is a much better fit than the SR45. I'm too old to want much else than my two .45 ACP semi autos. I just need to keep practicing with those. My Remington 870 takes care of long gun home defense and my MN1891 is great for my rifle needs, although a Remington 700 in .30-06 would be nice to have. I have friends who'll let me shoot about any common caliber of handgun there is so I can enjoy without the cost, other than ammo.

If you have a good P345 I am jealous. The first year or two they were out they put out quite a few with problems, and unfortunately, I had one of the problem guns. Otherwise, it fit my hand as well as (maybe better than) a 1911, it was amazingly accurate, it was pretty much a "just right" size and weight that worked for both carry and range making it a very versatile gun, and I really liked the way it felt and looked. If mine was reliable, and maybe get rid of the decocker safety (make it a decocker only), and to me it would be just about the perfect self defense .45 for home or carry.

The way it seems to me, with that gun Ruger took the time to fix the problems and finally get it just right, putting out maybe the best overall .45ACP on the market (for those who don't want a SAO for defensive use), and then they discontinued it. So, for this thread, maybe one of my "asks" could be for them to bring back the KP345.

And while I'm on bringing back discontinued guns...CZ, bring back the CZ 40B!

CZ to made left-hand versions of their centerfire bolt action rifles. Only the 527 American model is available. I'd love to have a left hand mannlicher stocked hunting rifle.
