What would you ask a gun mfgr to build?

I'd ask for this!

Hey all you gun makers of semi-auto pistols....don't forget 'bout us left-handers out here. Build your pistols with AMBI controls....., safety, slide release and mag release......please.:banghead:

A modern 7.62x25 pistol. The round is super accurate and a soft shooter. Perhaps a single-stacked concealed carry 7.62x25 pistol.

Strictly for Bear Defense

Bear, and there might be a market for this in Africa for last-ditch Rhino, Lion, etc). It would fulfill the same function as 18th century Howdah pistols of the big-game hunters of that era.

2-shot 500 S&W Magnum deringer. 6.5" barrels configured over/under and grips of a size to afford controllability. Such a gun would be light enough for a backpacker.

For emergency defense against dangerous animal attack, one is unlikely to get off more than two aimed shots, so the 2-shot configuration is not such a drawback.

If Ruger would offer swappable cylinders in their double-action revolvers (similar to Taurus' push-button system on their 22 Rimfire convertible 22 LR/22Mag).

If Ruger would offer swappable barrels (similar to Dan Wesson's barrel and shroud system) on any of their revolvers.

If Ruger would combine the swappable barrels described above with the swappable cylinders also described above and make (now this is where it gets dicey) DIFFERENT CALIBERS available in the mix'n'match setup.

Why Ruger? they make my favorite frame and their lockwork is as robust a system as I have found.

Yup, this was on my list.

The 7.62 would also need support from the big ammo makers, they need to do some R&D on the bullet design. It's got the speed, now they just need to give it reliable expansion.

The "Modern Tok" is a common Internet Wish List Leader.
I don't think it likely to show up.
Nobody in the Free World makes an action long enough and they don't seem interested in taking the chance.
There is a Chicom 7.62 Sig-Sauer copy, sold in Canada.

I would ask Smith and Wesson to build a website that has the same data on each weapon.

It does me no good to compare the unloaded weight of an M&P FS to the loaded weight of a Compact

Easy. New manufactured Webley Fosbery. At an affordable price. The last original I saw in a shop was priced at over $7000.

I would like a garand feed from stripper clips instead of enbloc. Essentially an sks in 30.06. Internal magazine, top fed, that has an attachment for a scope.

If this was asked earlier I would have said a AR chambered in something like .270 blackout, but I recently found that this exist in the .277 wolverine.

Quote: me
As written near the top the Ruger P series is DA/SA and the P345 is somewhat smaller than older P series pistols. For me mine is a much better fit than the SR45. I'm too old to want much else than my two .45 ACP semi autos. I just need to keep practicing with those.
Chaim:
If you have a good P345 I am jealous. The first year or two they were out they put out quite a few with problems, and unfortunately, I had one of the problem guns. Otherwise, it fit my hand as well as (maybe better than) a 1911, it was amazingly accurate, it was pretty much a "just right" size and weight that worked for both carry and range making it a very versatile gun, and I really liked the way it felt and looked. If mine was reliable, and maybe get rid of the decocker safety (make it a decocker only), and to me it would be just about the perfect self defense .45 for home or carry.

The way it seems to me, with that gun Ruger took the time to fix the problems and finally get it just right, putting out maybe the best overall .45ACP on the market (for those who don't want a SAO for defensive use), and then they discontinued it. So, for this thread, maybe one of my "asks" could be for them to bring back the KP345.

I heard of those problems after I bought it but mine was used LNIB and worked well from the first mag to the present. It convinced me to use .45ACP as my caliber of choice. Last time out practicing defensive drills, moving forward and sideways and double tapping, it hit every target twice and reminded me how sweet it handles. It now is my nightstand gun and a Kahr is for EDC. Still .45 ACP. The Kahr answers what I'd like a mfr to build for CC, although they might be a bit more thorough when finishing their guns.

I want a newly manufactured Mauser C96 chambered in 7.63 Mauser but strong enough to handle hot 7.62x25 loads. I'll even pay the $200 for a stamp so I can put a shoulder stock on it.

Deanimator and Jeepnik: I saw recently that an upscale firm in London (Wheeler and Anderson) has re-created the Webley Mk VI using original blueprints. They chambered it in .357, seven shot. Price point nearly 9K USD. Relatedly, Webley and Scott has plans to remake the Mark VI in original form (presumably somewhat cheaper) in 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of the Somme. They're seeking 1,000 signatures on their Website. As for the Fosbery, there is an obscure Pakistani firm that has been communicating to US dealers that they've reproduced the Fosbery in both .38 and .455. The latest word was that they intend to bring something to market this year, though I'm somewhat skeptical.

I'd like to see a mass produced Beretta 92-series pistol with a frame mounted safety, like the "Beretta Stock" which is seldom seen on these shores. Preferably with the 92 Elite or Elite II upgrades. (I've seen enough problematic Taurus PT-92s to not want one of those as an alternative.)

S&W revolvers without The <expletive> Lock.

Ruger Redhawk "+P" . . . same as regular Redhawk, except with the improved metallurgy Ruger put into its .454 Casull Super Redhawks.

And though this isn't a rifle thread, I'd like to see a heavy game rifle with a pop-up peep sight in the rear of the receiver like some of the BRNO ZKK bolt action rifles had a few decades back.

I too would like to see more DA/SA pistols with exposed hammers. I'd also like to see manual safeties on them. They are my favorite action for carry guns and it makes me sad that all the hot new carry guns seem to be striker-fired with no manual safeties.

I'd really like to see a DA/SA pistol with a manual safety on the slide that sweeps up to fire in a modular frame. It would be awesome to be able to swap out grips, barrels, and slides to adapt the pistol to different uses and calibers. It would allow for the same trigger pull and operation in a gun that could be tailored to CCW, plinking, service duty, target shooting, competition shooting, and home defense.

Years ago Savage made a series of guns called the 23A, B, C & D. They were chambered
in .22 rimfire, 25/20, 32/20 & 22 Hornet. They cost about $14.00 back in the day. Why
can't someone do something like that in a rifle costing around $150.00 or so in a more
modern caliber.

I like the idea of a tube fed pistol caliber carbine but in 10mm.
A 2 1/2" barrel 5 shot in 45 colt.
And I want Walther to make a PPK in 9x18

This is one of those dream-big threads, so here goes:

(I know some of these have already been mentioned, but I'd want them, too)

Luger P-08 in original configuration and with a double-stack magazine.
S&W Schofield in .38 special/.357 magnum
Mauser C96
Remington 7400 (or similar) in .223 built to take AR15/M16 magazines and .308 built to take M14 or FAL magazines.
MP-40 Pistol (with the ability to have the original-style folding stock added with a tax stamp).
Modernized Walther P-38 with double-stack magazine, frame-mounted safety and improved firing-pin block.
