What would you carry if you were or are a cop?

Hm.

Model 625, with at least 6 moon clips for the belt, and some half-moon clips in my pockets, or:

my Pre-Model 27 .357, with some good speedloaders--at least 6 on the belt, and some other speed strips.

I could, however, be talked into a 4" Model 686, or a 4 inch Model 29 with .44 Special loads.

4 inch Stainless Ruger GP-100 .357

A 6 inch S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman .357 would be a close second. I would probably keep one of those in the drivers side door pocket of the Crown Vic, just in case :).

For off duty carry and vest carry while uniformed, Ruger SP-101 DAO with concealed hammer.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

As much as I like revolvers, I'd take a high-cap Glock 9mm with 115-gr. Federal JHPs. I also wouldn't mind having a 7- or 8-shot .357 revolver with 125-gr. JHPs.
I didn't know Glock made hi-cap revolvers , unless anyone remembers that thread from about a month ago?

If semi auto's were out, I'd have to get the 'ol S&W 686 out of the safe. I shoot it better than my glock anyway.
Like posted before, when you run it dry, it makes a great smasher of brain holders.

For all 'round comfort and carry, I'll have to go along with the classic K frame 4 inch Model 19in .357 magnum.

L frame Smiths (586/686) are great guns too. And I dearly love my stainless steel DW 15-2 in .357 magnum (I use this in IDPA).

If we're eliminating the bulk/weight factor for pure joy, I'll have to go with a 4inch N frame Smith in either .41 or .44 magnum. As said in an earlier post, when all else fails, you can beat them with an N frame club. :D

then, of course, hhhhuuuuummmmmmm, Python!

Well, it sounds like I'd be lugging around four or five revolvers. :banghead:

I would get my S & W 681 out of storage and carry it again. It was a great revolver. Made a good sap also. :)

Ok, If pre issue ammo(38+p125HP),then my mod 28 6", if after issue, mod 19 4".

Either way, the off duty gun was up to you, make mine a 66 2.5" 158grn hp! :D

You're gonna walk funny, with all that on your duty belt, plus the usual load of crap that cops generally carry. Radio, handcuffs, pepper spray, flashlight carrier, possibly an ASP... some these days keep an extra 'cuff case with rubber gloves in it... And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. No matter how you look at it though, there's just not a lot of available "real estate" on the average duty belt.

And I'll pay good money to watch you try to get in or out of a patrol car in a hurry, while carrying that load.

For me, any well-made 4" barreled revolver in a reasonable caliber and a couple of speed loaders will do the trick.

What..no S&W Model 10's with the 4 inch heavy barrel?
Loaded, of course, with 158 grain +p SWCHP.
As we used to say, six for sure.

In order of preference:

Ruger Redhawk 4" barrel in 41mag.

Smith & Wesson Model 65-5, 3" barrel in .357mag

Twin LeMats in shoulder holsters with a Remington 2 barrel derringer as a Bug.
